i think this mode deserves a own thread
I hope not to see 10 contador's/cancellara's or something in each race (because in Fifa UT its possible to play messi vs messi, etc).

Looks good, but to be totally honest I'd rather have all the liscensing, bugs fixed, sponsor system revamped, etc. They spent the last year doing this?

Could be fun, but as baseball says, can we have a proper improved manager game rather than this mouth-shuter?

It took time make it but it was worth it?
Two possibilities: A) They simply don't know how to improve the manager mode or B) They think they can sell more games to non-hardcore gamers with this rubbish.
If I wanted to play online, I'd be buying a PS3, but I spent my money on a good PC for manager games. If I wanted to be high on ladders I'd be playing World of Warcraft. Unless Saxo Bank will convince Contador to stay with an equipment card, IDGAF.

Licensing is more a question of establishing a financial agreement with the individual teams, than a question of time. Other than that, I agree. The last year could have been spent a LOT different. |

EA win a lot of money with the people that buy Packs with real money for get good cards. Cyanide made it because they think can win more money with it.
but i think it will be a good mode even if its not realistic at all
online its very important in modern games and this can be a big improvement of it. i dont see why they should not improve it. |

It's an interesting mode to implement. It should bring money to Cyanide if there will be option of buying special packs with better riders. That are always young crazy kids that spend money.
This should bring nice profits to Cyanide and hopefully they will begin making more financial agreements with the teams as AaB-ern pointed out.
The key to success with this will be whether the riders will have real names or will be made up. To me it will loose a lot flavour if the riders will be fictional or the names will be messed up. However we'l see just have to wait and see how it works etc. Hopefully it will be decent, bring some nice profits to Cyanide so next year they can bring more changes to the game and more licensed teams.
Will this mode make me play more on-line than career ? Answer is no. But it should bring some fun if implemented rightly.

I'd rather get a card that said Lance Neilstrung or Ryder Hosjedal, than completely fake names like Dick Henderson

just because they created a new online-mode it doesnt mean they wasted a whole year -.- just wait for the game and judge afterwards. |

Well I can't say I find any of the new announced features much exciting (obviously there are a couple of small things which do make a difference, but not much).

PCM, aswell as most other games these days, have taken a turn towards more "shock and awe" rather then genuine improvements. Every year it's a new gimmick that looks good on paper, but fails to deliver in the long run. It's quite simple to understand that you'll sell more games by having "New multiplayer mode" written in fancy letters than it is by writing "Improved manager mode".
Just look at what happend last year with the introduction of the "Achievements". Nice gimmick custom made to appeal to new customers and not the ones who allready buy the game year after year. The only problem is that Cyanide couldn't even get it to work properly... No offence, but how are they going to make radical changes (for the better) in the manager-part when they can't even get achievements up and running.
However, I do see the positive sides of this new mode. I am hoping that this will appeal to young children with "daddys credit card" in the same way that "Ultimate Team" has in FIFA. More money means either more licences or more improvements. However, I don't think licencing the different teams and riders is the biggest problem since alot of people use either the PCMDaily DB or something similar.
There's a fine line between "psychotherapist" and "psycho the rapist"

Feature-wise, I actually found PCM 11 very good (from the few PCM releases I've followed "live" ). Solid rider model, sponsors system, riders with popularity and regions, new (easier) multiplayer mode.. you can't really complain about that, except that some features were quite buggy. But I can't say the same about PCM 12, unfortunately (very few genuine improvements). And actually I'm afraid of some of the things that were said (I recall it being said in an interview that riders' ability were smaller now but the weaker riders in GTs would let go the pace earlier to conserve energy. While this is fine in GTs, does it mean we'll have even more riders sprinting in the Roubaix velodrome at the end of PR?).

What? You can't even renew a sponsor!

But it was added anyway, as buggy as it may be. And the concept of it works: teams do change head sponsors.

I agree with baseball, why add something which is not functional? It is nice you can sign with new sponsor, but absolutely useless when you cant renew. Cyanide think the players are stupid probably,or they are satisfied with mony they get every year and dont have motivation to really improve the game (solid models rather screwed up the gameplay...).

Please use your brains before writing. Cyanide decided to add the possibility that teams change the sponsor. Also they decided that the player cannot renew with the current sponsor. This was a decision and neither is a bug nor is it useless.
If you compare the old sponsor system to the new one, then the new one wins in all points.
Not being able to renew the contract adds a little twist into the game, so I guess they did it to make the game less boring. What do you get from of sticking with the same sponsor anyway?
If you would be writing a story, then you can easily fix it with an editor.
BTW: I just noticed that we are way off-topic now

Actually, as far as I know you were supposed to be able to renew with your sponsor (other teams can, so it is quite stupid if you can't imo). I remember a post by CrueTrue saying he suggested, in Beta testing, for them to add the possibility to renew with the sponsor but it was too late for that. I guess that in PCM 12 this should be "available".
