Simple question (I think); what is the best and worst signing you've ever made in PCM?
For me, both are junior riders that I picked up after seeing their results in the "junior classifications".
Best: Sebastian Bianco (ITA) - Young rider who has a potential of 84(!) in cobbles. Not spectacular in any other stat, but decent enough. He is the main reason why I wanna keep this career going untill he has reached his full potential.
Worst: Dominic Zutatutas (LIT) - He was the best of the young riders so I decided to sign him thinking he had some potential... Turns out his best stat is expected to the endurance... at 78. |

Nice idea, personally my best signing was Wesley Sulzberger on PCM 10, he looked okay, on random potential, 3 years later, 83flat, 84sprint 85acc!
Worst signing- Ballan, signed him after a contract ran out, he was injured for 4months in december, and then another 6months in july... -.-

Best; Viktor Baker, GBR, 20
British young rider, potential (im not lying) TT85 PLG85 FL85 CB78 DH85 STA85 RES80 REC78
Worst; Christian Malev, Rus, 21
Russian 'future great' sprinter, max of FL70 SP68 ACC66

Are these max stats a measure of what you think the rider will reach (based on the number of stars left + current stat), what the rider has actually got to or do you see their maxes in the DB?

Well mine were DB maxes, not sure about others

Don't you think it's nicer to not know the limits of the riders (at least the exact ones)? Kinda like the suggestion of hiding rider stats in careers.

Those are the only two riders I've ever checked and it was more of an accident then anything else. I was using the editor to change the lenght of a contract (created rider, my career is centered around him) and couldn't help but notice. |

It depends, stats wise, it's got to be Robert Gesink, who turned out into a 85 MO, 81 TT, 84 HIL, and quite strong STA, RES and REC (all in the 80s). For some reason, never couldn't quite win the Tour de France with him, although I did, later, with inferior riders. When it wasn't an injury (realism ftw), it was two -5 in a row in the most important mountain stages. Ended up using him for the Giro-Vuelta double lol.
Results wise, Tommeke. 3 RvV+Roubaix doubles in a row. One of them with the rainbow jersey (I didn't control the Belgian team though). That's as awesome as this game can get for me.
As for the worst, just about 3948639856 youngsters who were supposedly future greats and turned out to be crap. Most of them sprinters, can't remember the last time I found a worthy scouted sprinter, most of them seem to get stuck at ~75 SP, ACC and <70PL. Useless.

mine were db limits
is it fun to know ... it is when they are that good, plus each star is worth around 2-3pts so its not too difficult to guess

Best: definitely, Fuglsang with HTC. He got 82 on mountain, 78 on TT and won Giro and Tour that year (2013, i think).
Worst: Manuel dos Santos Leal (POR). He was supposed to be a top sprinter, but the best he got was SP70 ACC69. |

Best - Inigo Vinaspre, young rider, 2nd in the giro this year in his second season. 82 mtn, 80 res, 78 recovery already. Still got some stars to go and should get good on everything except TT. With Luigi, I try not to look at the DB. Will be looking for mountainous grand tours in the years to come
Also Louis Passamontes - picked up like 4 mountain to a 78 since I signed him for minimum salary
Worst - Tyler Farrar, cost a lot and can't win anything worth winning. Maybe the sprint train isn't good enough, but he can't even get in the top 5. |

I've found that the scouts are useless for sprinters
most of the better ones are promising rather than future greats
Best
Vicente Albacete - found this guy in the first season, and will peak out at 84MTN
pity his TT will be naff, but ASchleck/Anton/Rujano does well with it IRL
Worst
Flecha - signed him to be a classics leader (ie winning them) and could only manage top 10s (though it was before i knew how to race them) |

it's important to have new riders that top at 75SP because if they all go to 85 it wouldn't be realistic |

Of course, what I meant is that I can't seem to find a good scouted sprinter. All the young sprinters I sign suck.

Best-Tyler Farrar.
Not exactly a homegrown talent, but he got tons of results.
Worst- Emilio di Napoli.
Had a 67 on sprint with 5 stars. Ended up with 72 sprint. I can't even use him in smaller races, because he can't hang on to the trains with 68 flat. AND he doesn't have enough recovery to even finish a grand tour. A real let down.
RIP Exxon Duke, David Veilleux, Double Feature, and Monster Energy

Best signing:
Rui Costa, PCM10. Signed him for 2012, he won the Vuelta by 6 or 7 minutes.
Worst Signing:
Peter Sagan, PCM10. Same game, but did nothing at all in his three seasons. |

I think I should mention a young rider I scouted in the last version of the game. I don't remember his name, but he was from Italy and reached 84 in TT! Everything else was rubbish, though. |

Best Signing - Alexey Pankov youngster from Kazakhstan for my Astana team in 2013 which already had Sagan, his MO got to 81 and HILL is 83 he won the tour of australia in his 2nd year with top tens in all 3 ardennes classics and the following year he won all 3 ardennes and top 10 in the giro and vuelta, year after he won LBL and Milan-SanRemo (crazy breakaway) and went onto win the vuelta
Worst Signing - countless youth 'Future Greats' but signing Ballan again he got injured and was out most of the year ! and then his stats started to decline (waste of money) |

Best signing: P. Sagan with Team Europcar, he won Milan-San Remo and a couple of hilly classics for me, also Tirreno-Adriatico a couple of years later.
Worst signing: some Spanish rider who doesn't last 20km in a race. |
