The only one I can fit into that is Marcel Kittel, but i wouldn't say Germany is that bad at producing pro cyclists.
The Heroes: Domenico Pozzovivo & Igor Antón Hernandez

If its a month old it could be Navardauskas. He turned 24 last month.
He podiumed only in the ttt though.

"the grass is greener on the other side" - yes, that might be Navardauskas or riders from other countries near Russia.

Daniel Teklehaimanot?!
I'm not sure if he had a podium, though.
GREENer grass = GREENEDGE?

It can't be Teklehaimanot as he's only 5'10 and didn't ride pro till 2008, I believe.

He only turned professional full time this year. Unless you count his really small teams as professional or his time as a trainee, which I would dispute. Also, as you said, he hasn't had a podium this year. Also there aren't other Eritreans in the peleton.
I've just gone through all the WT riders born in 1988 and Navardauskas is the only one who fits the bill IMO.

I would say Aidis Kruopis. Everything matches, except the age:
https://en.wikiped...is_Kruopis
Same height and weight though, podiumed in Qatar, rides for GreenEdge (and rode for Landbouwkrediet last season --> green to green(er?)), and turned pro in 2007.

the only greenedge podium spots from young riders is aidis kruopis.
so that means that it cant be a green edge rider and we are looking at this wrong. |

It can't be Navardauskas because if this was a month old (so it'd fit in the 23-year old rule), then he wouldn't have had any recent podium (Tour of Qatar wouldn't have been raced yet).

Also, height and weight don't match.

Marku Kump
23 years old (born88)
pro since 2007 for Adria Mobil although he raced in the U23 category
Slovenia looks like the right country
Weight looks also right

Why ? Everything matches to be him ? I honestly can't see anyone else than Kruopis. Also some rider from GE if I remember correctly wrote a slag about the grass is greener on the other side so it has to be GE, meaning Kruopis.

Well, I searched a bit, and considering age, a recent podium, year turning pro and not being born in Italy, France or Germany, all that's left is Daniel Schorn.
He is about the same height, his last weight info is 72kg, but that's at least 2 years old.
@Alakagom: Sure, Kruopis fits the best and was my first thought as well, but he's two years too old.

Like i said, his height and weight are the identical values on Wikipedia as in the question.
EDIT: I also thought about Schorn, but he didn't really match the becoming known part.

I don't disagree, but becoming known is surely a much more subjective description than age.

I'd made a small list but since none of the riders fitted exactly in, I wasn't posting it here. However it can be a bit useful for you to eliminate some riders (I had also found D.Schorn and M.Kump). I started with 23 year old riders and 2012 podiumers, so this will be present in all riders:
Jesse Sergent - comes from NZL, but height/weight are a bit off (77 kg 189 cm) and started riding pro in 2009.
Blaz Jarc - comes from Slovenia and rides pro from 2007, but is too tall, too heavy and his podium would be several weeks ago (5 months ago, Tour of Gallipoli).
Robin Chaigneau - almost matches perfectly height and size, but comes from Nederlands and rides pro since 2008 (and even as a trainee in 2008).
Aidis Kruopis is the closest imo, not only because of the green grass mention but also iambennyboy's cycling club is likely from Australia, so that's another link (Australian team).

Not everything matches. He is 26.
