With just 172km it`s not the longest classic this season. But it surely will be one of the hardest.
Kenya welcomes the Man Game this season with a tough mountain classic going up a long climb two times.
As the race is HC category the best climbers are obviously at the start line.
The first rider, you always need to mention in any mountain CT race is Jose Alarcon. Last season he often dominated these kind of races. This season he is still looking for his first win after a somehow not very optimal Trentino Race. With the help of Nazaret he surely belongs to the very best here.
His biggest opponents by far should be Bouygues Telecom. All their top climbers are here starting with Taaramae. Suaza and Solis are big outside favourites and should support him for a very long time. Defintely the team to watch for the pace making here.
The next list of favourites contain excellent climbers, who could match up with the big mentioned favourites. But their support is not as great as for this duo.
Pozzovivo had a nice win in Trentino, which should give him a lot of motivation to beat the other climbers again. The Italian can be expected to do so of course and is a definite podium contender.
Hollister is having a very nice season so far and with Kiserlovski they also send a top gun here to increase their points.
Gomez Marchante is ageing but still riding on top level. He surely can be expected to perform well here.
Abal was aim number 1 for CSC this transfer season. For races like this one he was signed. One of the best Spaniards around in the CT.
Popovych is Metinvest`s big star this season. Their season start could have been much worse as they did pretty well so far. Can he continue to score nicely for them?
Kashechkin is another great climber in the PCT signing for a newly promoted team. He needs to deliver as his team needs every point by him.
Caruso must be a pain in the ass for Cisco. They really wanted to get rid of him but due to his pretty high salary no other team was really interested. So far of the negative side. In the end he is still a solid climber and can give them many points. More an outside favourite here.
Other riders to be named as outside favourites are Karpets, Efimkin, Anton, Kolesnikov, Stetina, Cataldo or one of the CT riders in Moreno.
A special mention for the Kenyan team Kenya Airways - Barclays. Surely they have high expectations here by sending their top climber and home favourite Zakayo Ndbri. Can the crowd push him up the climb?

After failing all 6 goals in the history of our team it would be nice to get a top 5 and finally complete a goal. Should be a fun race regardless though, can't wait.

This is going to be insane. I dont expect much from my team, but would happily accept a Top 10.
Heres hoping the race plays out as it should and there isn't a PCM12 AI issue like we've had with some of the more promising stages so far this year, to only have them disappoint due to the AI.

Top 5 would be a good result for the team, and I hope that Marchantes good acceleration will come in handy!

Can only agree with your words regarding Caruso. Really need some points, so I sincerely hope that he can enter the top 10 this time, unlike in Trentino.
On the bright side, no Dekker, Kritskiy, Marquez, etc...

Insane startlist. Hoping for a surprise result, anything can happen in PCM and with the home crowd supporting us it should be a good race. Really looking forward to it |

It is a lesson I learned in my first season that classics like ths will attract a high quality field no matter what the category.
Still I look at the parcours and think hell I want to be here should be a really fun race. Looking forward to the report roturn... You know what I've been saying you must do t justice

If I don't win, I'm gonna be angry!
More seriously, who knows Moreno can surprise with a top 10.

Kashechkin's first race of the season here, and he needs to deliver me a top 5. Really excited for this, hopefully it plays out like a proper mountain stage.

It's a pity I don't have any rider suited to this race or any regional interest in it. I'm sure this debutant will provide a frenetic race for us all, it has all the ingredients for it.
My preference will go to Alarcon. Not because of his characteristics but because Bintang really need a big result at this point if they want to stay in contention for promotion, and this would be the perfect place to ignite their season. However it's a massive startlist and there a lot of possible winners here. Although I agree seeing Ndbri triumph in his home race would be awesome.

Nice preview of another mountain superstars showdown, i am very much looking forward to this race.
First sponsor goal for us (top5) and Popovych is listed as sixth best from favourites, this will be nail bitter all the way (please dont let him finish as 6th, but still inside top 10 at least).

Pozzo might have taken Trentino, but I'd be surprised for him to win again here. Podium definitely do-able though. Alarcon the man to beat. |

Nothing spectacular but 6th is fine with such a strong field.
