Nothing for Los Pollos, as was to be expected I suppose. Protecting Keizer might have been more interesting than joining the break indeed. Nice win for Moser and Vesuvio, congratulations. Thanks for the nice report, cunego

Safely through. Good to see Würtz near the front at the end. Now fingers crossed for a good hilly stage from our guys.

Ouch. That stage went almost as awful as it could have....
De Bie never should have lost contact there from that perfect position he was in. Just follow the first move and don`t wait till it`s too late but still trying and suffering.
No stage points, no 25s gained before the TT.
And at the same time losing Goos from the +25s group to the +1'16 group, which is likely too much for a top10 GC anymore for him as well.
Hopefully just a bad day for De Bie here as I need to see better from him in other races.
Thanks for the report and congrats to Moser for the stage and the TT riders hanging in the first group. |

Very puzzling. At least Mohoric looked strong when being on the move. Though, with no KoM jersey, we are left with absoluttert nothing, which makes this a bad start to the season. We’ll need to step up and start getting points.
Congratulations on the win, Roman! GC wise, it looks to be settled for Phinney, but the fight for podium and top 10 placings should be interesting.
Thank you for the report, cunego! Enjoyed the read, eventhough Mohoric was frustrating to follow for the early part of the stage |

Lecuisinier looked quite strong there. Sagan, Lutsenko and Skujins are legit puncheurs who should be stronger on this sort of stage and are not the strongest against the clock. Especially glad that Skujins performed nicely here for once. Also cool to see Chiarello fighting back into that front group.
I'm glad that Lecuisinier got a bit of a time gap towards the likes of Ganna, Cataford, Würtz and Keizer. That was absolutely crucial if I want to compete for the top 3 or top 5.
Enjoyed the stage a lot.
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

Hmm, very happy with Brkic and APP also in a position to do a good GC in his first race for us. Würtz looked good for a long time, but probably tried to stay on a bit too long as he cracked a bit towards the end. GC top 10 probably out of reach, but hopefully he can aim for the stage win.
Looks like a good fight for the GC win...

To get 2nd from such a poor sprint train is pretty good. Big points difference between 1st and 2nd on such a Stage, but 2nd is still a decent accumulation.
Second Stage was not good. It was Nice to see Chiarello claw back, but it doesn’t matter much as he will only drop down (significantly), while all those guys who had a shot at top 25 lost too much time.
I should end up having 4-5 guys in the top 50 and hopefully a few in the 30-40 group to get some points. Not a great start, but not a disaster either. Dissapointing not to see us attempt anything though, seeing how poor we are in terms of GC favorites.

No idea what Buchmann had in mind there. And to have nobody finish in the top 80 between him, Muller, and Reichenbach... I'm getting the sense that this is going to be a long season for us. Either way, thank you cunego for kicking things off.

Damn, very bad stage for us. Keizer losing 2'15" with way weaker riders not losing that much definitely isn't pleasant, and Zmorka at around three minutes also isn't great for whatever GC hopes he could have had. Hope to bounce back with some good time trial performances tomorrow.
Congratulations to Roman on the stage win, and thank you cunego for another thrilling report

Great report! Good but not great stage for us. Phinney wasn't as strong as last year and couldn't put as much time in between him and the opposition as I hoped for, but he's well set. Also Tao looks pretty good for the GC. And my man Cherkasov seems to already be worth the investment.

Not an ideal result for us in the end, Oliveira may well get top 20 with the TT to come but we'll be relying on a good TT from some riders to score some depth points. Not great but this race was not expected to be a happy hunting ground for us really. :/

Great reports, thanks a lot cunego!
What a nice start of the season Moser:
- a really nice 3rd from Appollonio while Moser gets a stage win for other team
- KoM jersey in the bag due to Ponzi's breakaway efforts
- Stagan getting a nice stage win possibly due to Ponzi protecting him before key attack
Things are only going down from here.

Great to see Groves fight off a top10 in the first stage and almost cracking that first white jersey as planned.
Bobridge on the other hand was below expectations. We have been fortunate enough to see him finish inside the chasing group and thus with a top10 chance for today, but if this is all we can get out of him in a race like this, then I think we are doomed.
Some superb reports there, cunego, thanks!

The TOP5 was our goal in this race and Tenorio delivered that well. Beyond that Galta done very well and McNulty delivering some nice points too.
Thanks for the great reports cunego! Congrats to Phinney. |

8th with De Bie is pretty solid here as it`s a race that doesn`t suit him the most.
Though even more unfortunate that he couldn`t follow the puncheur trio yesterday and more important get some stage points there. Seeing him being the best pure puncheur though is still surprising and shows that his TT was more than average.
Goos in 22nd GC is okay, had hoped for more, let`s say fighting around 10th-15th. But therefore he shouldn`t have lost time yesterday, while todays time was a bit less than expected but still not too awful.
Sergent rather weak TT here really. Had expected a bit more, but as GC was never possible anyway, point scoring would have been changed by +-5 only anyway.
In total a decent race for us with ups and downs.
Congrats Isostar for a very good race here as also Hart was strong as also the other strong performers while the promoting teams got hit hard here with Duolingo, De Stijl, UBS or even Aker clearly having had hoped for a bit more.
Thanks for the reports! |

Unlucky Lammertink with the conditions, as he was our only hope for a decent stage placing.
Foss with a very good TT. He would have been right up there in 2nd in the youth classification if he was one group better on stage 2. Hopefully he can keep fighting for decent youth placings throughout the season.
Thank you again for your great reports, cunego! And congratulations on the GC, Croatia. |

Wow, what an incredibly disappointing race this was for Los Pollos Hermanos. Keizer not in top-50 of the TT and only 37th in GC is crazy bad, whereas Zmorka's 15th place in the time trial is also quite shocking. Let's hope Qatar is different.
Zmorka's nc jersey looks lit though.
Thanks for the reports cunego, and congratulations on the 'expected' stage and GC win, Croatia

Not really happy with the final stage. 6th in GC is below expectations for sure. Polanc solid second scorer which is what i hoped for from one of my guys behind Lecuisinier.
Thanks for the report and congrats to cro for achieving minimum expectations

Not a lot of points on offer here for us, but I can't complain with what I got. Kiriakidis had a very nice final stage to get 2nd in the U25 competition, which makes up for the poor show from Giannoutsos. Too bad de la Cruz wasn't on a very good day otherwise top 10 would have definately been possible. Still 13th is very nice.
Vlatos the dissapointment, but he usually performs bad in stages like this after a hard day. The only reason for bringing him was for the lack of good raceday options. He'll get better later - I hope.
Overall a race we can accept as our first in the ELCO - ABEA era. Thanks for the reports and congrats on the obvious win from Phinney.
