Could quote all those who underestimated Wing, but never mind.

Just need more of these:

He obviously was super strong today, but a big shoutout to his team. I doubt he'd have gained that much time without them constantly attacking Pog.
And although I think Vingegaard would've won anyway today, I still feel like Pog wasn't at his top level today... Just hope he didn't contract Covid; wouldn't be that surprising with all those UAE positives though...

If he loses time again tomorrow i feel like Pog will catch covid... even if he doesn't actually have it.

Honestly, the Jumbo team... it was amazing and it also wasn't. Rog sacrificing himself to kill Pog though was pretty freaking awesome of him. The whole, pacing Majka back so that Rog could pull for 5 seconds.... maybe not so awesome XD

Off course after the stage we know bringing back Rog was a mistake, but if Pog had not cracked and Rog was able to stay with most GC contenders, it would have opened the option to play another two captain strategy tomorrow. Leaving Rog behind would close the strategy completely, anyway now it’s is a totally different situation.

I don't think bringing Roglic back was a mistake. Pogacar still felt threatened by Roglic so I think it was good to have Roglic back to put some pressure on Pogacar
knowing he is still there even if the team knew he was done. Plus, when Van Aert's group passed by the yellow jersey group, it was Pogacar who closed the gap. A pointless effort in my opinion and it just added up to the multiple attacks that Pog had to chase after today.

Cycling is a team sport. Legendary stage.

Honestly wouldn't be surprised if Pogocar has covid though given the team circumstances.

So, Ineos to attack on the Alp d'Huez tomorrow?

Pogacar crisis didn't look Covid related to me, his performance until the last climb was brutal, it seems more like he didn't feed properly or simply he spent too much energies before. hopefully I won't be wrong...

well that was a rather disappointing stage...

If that was simply a crack, 2 minutes is piss easy. If Jonas loses any time to Pogačar it's dunzo. Stage 20 will be brutal if gap is less than 2 minutes

He's expressed concern about the heat multiple times and it's 28-30C out there right now. Lack of food + the heats quite frankly enough to do it I'd imagine

The weirdest dynamic with this race is that Vingegaard is 2 years older than Pogocar even though he still feels like the new, young challenger.

It’s funny that Bahrain’s best riders this Tour have been Luis Leon Sanchez and Fred Wright.

What happened to Vingegaard before last year's TDF? Guess maybe the screwed up 2020 hid his development, but he's been ungodly the last year after showing pretty unremarkable potential before 2021.

In 2016 he finished a mountain TT ahead of now Tour and Giro winner Egan Bernal, when the Colombian was already seen as a future star. Pfft

https://www.procy...16/stage-3

But in all serious note, I think the 2020 season somehow did hid his development, as you mentioned. He just rode Pologne (8th GC) and La Vuelta as major races (and he was quite a good domestique supporting Roglic), but until then he was very inconsistent. I remember he won a stage in the 2019 Tour de Pologne and then the next day he finished inside the grupetto.

Vingegaard is maturing in a proper rider at a decent age and people still doubt that, ok. Guess 21 year olds winning olympic gold and tour de francr gc is much more realistic

Gotta love Pogi on the offense, he is a spectacular rider whose dominance makes hin - for me - a bit hard to root for, but some dashes in his armour may win actually over.

Proper racing so far, very enjoyable Tour.

Yes because no one here has been the least bit suspicious about Pogocar. Rolling Eyes

Chris Froome became a beast at 26-27, a perfectly reasonable age to start your peak. What made it suspicious wasn't that he was at his best in his late 20's, it was that the buildup didn't suggest it made sense.

I'm not suggesting Vingegaard is doing anything that the majority of the peloton isn't doing. It's just weird that he's the guy who emerged as the next big thing without much gradual buildup.

Compare him to a guy like Gaudu who is the same age. He had a terrific U23 track record, and he's had a gradual progression towards the top the last few years. It was entirely predictable that he would end up at the level he is now, and may still improve. Just feels like Vingegaard didn't have that. But maybe I wasn't paying enough attention.

Think he had some decent results, nothing extraordinary to suggest he can make it 2nd in Tour. However the guy clearly lacks confidence so who knows how much was hidden by being a domestique. Looking at his build, he looks like the second coming of Rasmussen, I am more surprised he can TT well
