Wow, this came so out of nowhere. I'm completely stunned because i was sure this was going to be either a quiet day that keeps somebody from the previous break in yellow (think Malecki) or a completely dominant performance by Lecuisinier.
Getting a stage win with Chiarello is of course outstanding and getting that much of a gap over many contenders for a top 10 GC spot like Kritskiy, Eastman, Yates etc is amazing.
Seeing him in 2nd in GC now and collecting further ranking points via that obviously is an added bonus but I'm really intrigued whether he can use that position to carry himself further in the GC fight. Obviously, he won't get as much attacking freedom for now but past GTs have often shown that early overperfomers can ride the wave for some time in the GC and the second week stages don't look overly hard.
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

Great from Bettiol, and then Yates goes and loses 4 minutes to Chiarello and Roglic - two riders with comparable if not worse stats...
Yet another result that makes me think about disbandment again. As with many others I'm finding less and less time to engage, and PCM 20 seems to have major issues with random daily form which makes planning almost worthless. I'll probably change my mind given time and come back for yet another PCT rebuild, but right now motivation is low. |

Big time performance by Chiarello, congrats Knockout I am really happy with what we did, also Inkelaar doing well and Bardet being attentive. Enjoying what we're doing atm. Also loving to see former rider Rogla in Yellow, you love to see it!
Fantastic report too!

Oh wow can’t believe Roglic did it after all. Only a shame he missed out on the stage win for our 3rd second place here.
Let’s see how long we can defend the yellow
Congrats on the stage knockout! |

Olivier with a big performance there staying with the best gaining time on many others.
Bigger gaps than expected to Pluchkin etc.
Chiarello really strong here, must have had a great day while Lecuisinier is still waiting I guess, though his time will come to dominate the race here in the next days. |

Don't want to get over dramatic about it but it does seem that Bennett just won't do it on a PT stage both this year and in PTHC races the last few years. Will enjoy the wage cut hopefully and look forward to returning to the Tour of Japan next year

Awful stage for us with a stupid positioning-time loss by Inkelaar and further unnecessary time loss. But good to see Roman doing well in the break and trying something.
Surprising peloton win though, guessed this was one for the break, shame it wasn't cause Alex looked good.

Lovely bunch of stages for us!
Egger and Mager making the unexpectedly winning break on the first mountain stage for lots of publicity and some ranking points was a nice surprise, although sadly the entire team shipped half an hour right after.
And back on hilly terrain, Demare shows the most convincing of his performances!
I indeed feared this was going to backfire spectacularly, but when you're just this strong, I absolutely get you gotta give it a try.
What a flurry of attacks to get rid of two star riders and cross the line on your own in green! I'm extremely impressed.
Houle not getting any points on this stage is particularly important, as that really widens the gap in the fight for green. We'll definitely need another good stage result along the way to feel comfortable up there.
Tomorrow should be too difficult for us, so a breakaway appearance hoping for enough leeway should be the goal. But then again, who knows!

It`s good to see the top puncheurs winning here.
But awful to see no difference between climbers with high and low hill stat as I had hoped to see Olivier gaining a bit here.
Unfortunately TTs won`t be as fair so that he will lose tons there, which would have been needed to balanced a bit in the hills. |

We should've sent Sosnitskiy or Vervaeke in those mountain stage breakaways instead of a bunch of puncheurs. Other than that the team is doing what can be expected of them.

The race will be brutal from now on, really eager to find out if Kritskiy can bounce back from that terrible stage 9...

Sick how Demare can start the race so badly and then just dominate all the hilly stages. The fight between Puma and Isostar for the title is heating up with both teams delivering big here.

Pretty awful first two weeks for Zwift. No urgency to get in the morning breakaways or even try to get a good stage result. Nothing from Eastman, yet. Basically a no-show. Not sure the French fans have even notice that Zwift is in the peloton. Very disappointing to say the least.
But, thanks for the reports so far!

Solid by Nesset again, and also a good try from Vingegaard. More of that please, in the last week!

Prime time performance by Inkelaar, I shut my mouth about the two atrocious performances of him the days before, probably he just wanted to loose time to get back in the break shame he couldn't take the win, but fantastic result!

Not the most ideal stage for me.
Olivier was very strong and tried, which is good. But in the end he might have been key for some gaps behind but also was losing time on Sicard, Kritskiy, Godoy etc. due to his earlier efforts. Right now not getting a lot of points from him and he surely needs to either ride more consistency to get closer to the top5 or attack later for the stage win.
Plus all team mates just slowed down after his attack and were 11+ minutes below losing their depth positions.
Lecuisinier so far very passive. Hopefully this changes now that he is in the lead. |
