There are AI desasters, there is randomness and then there is this. Whatever this was. I feel sorry for Nemolito for having to write this report. That's all i want to say at this point.
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

Well, that was a weird race. Surprising to see no attacks on the Poggio, but hopefully it was just a somewhat poor edition.
Must admit that I really got my hopes up when I saw Summerhill launching the sprint with Wisniowski in the wheel. Over the years they have been in a good number of sprints together and I think Wisniowski have "won" most of them, but looks like he he just didn't have the energy today. A superb win for Summerhill though, congrats tsmoha!
All in all, we're very happy with the results and hopefully Wisniowski will also be in the top when we get to the cobbles just around the corner.
Thanks for the report, Nemolito. I'm sure you would have hoped for more action, but a good report from the little action we had

Too bad Gerts wasn't able to profit in any way from this outcome.
I would have very much preferred a sprint looking at the results now

Seeing the riders in the top spots, it's unfortunate the AI went for big grapes of some teams instead of similar riders. Weird finish obviously.
The gamble with a pure sprinter didn't work out this year which is fine. Though Vermersch should have been around in such group I think.
Good effort from Hooydonck. Unfortunately not able to stay in the group for backup points.
Congrats to summerhill, nice winner indeed and teams like ISA, Puma, who got very lucky with multiple well placed riders.
Thanks for the report. |

The more races that pass the more i understand why the majority of MG managers don't actually play PCM
A break or attack is understandable and exciting, this was just bad AI and that's a killer. Especially as these weird "one-off" cases of bad AI are now becoming far more common...
Thankfully as a wildcard team we don't lose points. Plus i'll take Ewan being the best of the "favourites" behind the weridness.
And he was the first to run over and congratulte and Aussie team on their success.

So, is it this version of PCM, or is it the MG db’s lack of compatibility with this game version causing the wacky results this season? I’ve never actually played PCM20 so I have no idea and am genuinely curious. Surely the base game couldn’t be this bad?

Yeah it has been a large part of why I've not been as engaged as before this season, and results like these combined with the stupidly random TTs and prologues make me less than keen to catch up on recent results as planned. Probably will when I get chance, but if this is what we've come to expect then I dread to think what I'll find.
But anyway, thanks for the report Nemolito - and everyone else who I haven't had chance to thank in my absence! |

Mad respect to Summerhill for having the power to just drag a group of almost exclusively domestiques on his wheel to stay ahead of the peloton and not get passed, what a freak But also yeah poor AI which is a shame.

We've rerun races with better AI, just saying. Thanks for reporting Nemolito. Also I'm very happy that our marquee signing for Milan San Remo performed well above expectations. Cheers Pawel Bernas!

Unfortunately most "newer" versions seem to struggle with AI control similarly, which worked better with e.g. PCM11-15 I think. (Obviously it`s difficult to rate as back then the MG DB also looked a lot different).
But I guess the newer versions are more for real players, which then often find it very easy to win as the AI lacks some standard stuff.
Question is if going back to PCM11-15 would be any solution though as a) there were other issues as well and b) it would need a huge step back with lots and lots of organisation as most stages if not all won`t work anymore then. |

Don't we have a lot of material for PCM 15 (Or 18 the last two seasons right?)?
We obviously need more races to know what to do, but in my honest oppinion, what we have seen so far is really not good for the game. Both 15 and 18 had flaws, but flaws that seemed to be able to plan around. Here it seems much more random and different mistakes happen all over the place.

PCM18 and PCM20 have the same problems in my opinion (don`t actually believe Cya made any real changes AI wise in those editions that are not career related). So if really planning to get rid of the late AI issues (i.e. sprints) we would need to go back a lot further.
That said, this should not be in the MSR thread but more in another dicussion thread. |

Caught up on the report now. Must admit that I laughed audibly when I saw full results. Don't get me wrong I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with Summerhill winning as we have seen some late attacks take it in recent years IRL but the rest of the results are kinda all over the place. Kinda sad that the thing that's really holding MG back is the game and no matter which version we go onto there seems to be a ton of issues.

Very disappointed after having placed many riders so well towards the end and yet our best result is 20th. At least the depth scoring is quite good with multiple in the top 50.
But I guess others have much more to complain about the race after that weird gameplay. Summerhill is a worthy winner tough, congrats tsmoha!
And finally, thanks for the report Nemolito! |

Summerhill taking the first classic of the season, congratulations tsmoha and thanks Nemolito for the compact report.
