2020 Wages and Availability
Big news: Gazelle leader Francesco Ginanni has left the team after a disappointing season and failure to adapt his wage demands to the situation. Francesco was our rider of the year in both 2017 and 2018; he'll be missed for sure. Besides Ginanni we say goodbye to Janse van Rensburg and De Gendt, who have both served the team well.
After some tough negotiations we'll enter the upcoming transfer period with 19 riders and 470k free wage budget.
In order to bring more balance to the team, Gazelle has decided to sell two puncheurs during the coming transfer season:
27 year old Kazahk Roman Senyenov earns just 50k, is very strong in hilly terrain and has a decent finish. His most important attributes are 77 HI, 73 AC, 68 SP, 73 RES.
29 year old Dutch Moreno Hofland earns just 50k and is a very similar rider to Senyenov but with slightly less punch and better climbing abilities. He's very good at sneaking into decent scoring positions in hilly classics.
Most important attributes: 76 HI, 68 MO, 72 AC, 68 SP, 76 STA.
Some other riders might be available if the right offer comes in.

Luckily there is a PT team close towards his home.

Luckily said PT team has a violent allergy to time trialists

Transfer outcome and youth update
After a relatively uneventful transfer period Gazelle will enter the 2020 season with the following squad.
Team management didn't like the idea of having to pay a big transfer fee and wage to get a specialist puncheur replacement for Ginanni. With the memory of Davide Formolo often saving Ginanni's failures last season fresh in the back of our mind, it was decided to look for a solution internally. Davide was sent on an intense explosiveness training and will be our leader in hilly races for the foreseeable future, while also remaining very useful in more mountainous areas.
Another direct boost to team strength comes in the form of Matej Vysna. Like Formolo, Vysna is a well rounded climber who can handle anything from short hills to giant mountains.
All other recent acquisitions fit within a project that was started last year: securing the future of an aging Gazelle squad. The signing of Powless and Geoghegan Hart kicked things off last season and now they are joined by three new talents.
Kamil Malecki is a true allrounder who will be very useful in TONE and as a domestique in every possible terrain.
Jonel Carcueva is a two dimensional climber, similar to Vysna, who loves to get into breakaways.
Ildar Arslanov is a stage racing domestique with the back up stats of a leader.
Below is a maxed out overview of the riders in this project.

No surprise at all you got Malecki! Just the perfect embodiment of a Gazelle rider. Your team is looking strong as ever, can't wait to fight it out during the season with how similar our teams are looking in terms of terrain focus.

Very keen on Malecki myself, great signing that. Would love to see him getting classics training as well, lifting him up to 70+ in every stat as the first(?) in MG, but can see Fabian being a good way for him as well.

Malecki is such a strong rider. I even fancied Climberv1 as an option for him but he is a rider where you basically cant pick a bad option
Needless to say that this still an insanely talented squad and one of the top favourites to repeat the title.
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

I really like what you've done with Formolo. I had wanted Malecki myself, but ended up needing to preserve cap space in the event my main plan fell through, so he had sealed before I could go for him.

What a lovely young group of talents there, even if there's no instant leaders that's such a strong core of home-grown mountain talent (and Malecki!) to have for years to come, I like it Also think that Formolo training looks very cool.
Me too, have been considering stealing the idea for a while, it's a cool thing to see about the team's history (which is generally very well done by DD in his HQs which I love ).
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."

Clearly I've been blessed by the MG gods to get Malecki, seeing how popular he is.
matt - definitely looking forward to that battle! Your team totally looks up for it.
tastasol - it's definitely very tempting to go for classics and color all his attributes green. But he's just overall more useful to my team with the Fabian training.
knockout - yeah even that training crossed my mind as well. I love Kruijswijk and it would make him more similar to that champ. Thanks! If we do manage to get into the title fight again I'm quite sure you will be there as well.
valv - Thank you! I sure got lucky with the timing on Malecki. This is also why I always overbid more than the minimal increase. Sometimes it's important to quickly seal a rider or move on.
jandal & croatia - Thanks! You guys are more than welcome to use that idea. I won't push a copyright claim.
