It's a sprint!
Congratulations on the win, knockout. It's simply impossible to argue the coolness of Dzamastagic winning. He must have been crazy strong, holding the sprint from the kite and all the way. Obviously helped by Liepins not managing to follow and the gap it created, but still very impressive.
Intrigued to see what stage 18 has in store for us. Despite the downhill finish, Taaramae has to be alert to what his closest rivals do, as that is definitely not the type of stage where one would expect gains/losses GC wise. |

Just what I hoped to see with both Nesset and Iturria in the break. Good riding by both of them, and a great podium for Nesset. It's been great to see the team so active throughout the race.
Surpringsly small gaps in the GC at this moment in the race, but we should at least get a bit of difference in the TT. Rein looks good, but he could of course have a bad day...

Not ideal. Preidler not working well was a surprise, but Godoy absolutely battering it, while Bongiorno "unfortunately" doesn't lose time.
9th in the GC won't happen anyway, so I would much rather see him drop to 13-15th and then go on the attack on stage 20...
Oh well. Maybe the long ITT can see him drop out of the top 10 to have an actual shot of moving into the break - I doubt it though.
Brambilla and Quintana though! Crue can't argue Quintana is crap if he actually manages a Vuelta top 10! What a performance

Had to be expected that a breakaway succeeded here, no surprise there. Huge race for those able to take advantage from it, this time being especially Generali and eBuddy, congratulations both!
And now it's crunch time. Taaramae must be the favourite for the TT looking at his two wins earlier in that discipline in this race. Hopefully this isn't where he gets a bad day and gives up time. Eventhough he has won both TTs earlier this race, it has been close, so this one can go either way, I feel.
A pity we've got no chance at the teams classification, as I hoped to get that with this team, but with all this breakaway, but also a very strong Aegon team, third place is what we should look to cement in the TT, hoping for another strong team effort like we've been able to on the previous TTs.
Let's bring this home! |

Thanks.
Just to make i final statement about my situation, did get tested last sunday.
I was negative (no corona), and could finally be allowed to get to a doctor, turned out that I have carried around an pneumonia (or another inflammation they actually don't know) for way too long without treatment.
To make things worse it is public holiday's, so can get further examinations right now, but I got penicillin - it is slowly starting to kick in - felling much better now than just a few days ago - light at the end of the tunnel - but haven't been a pleasant ride so far.

I was really expecting fireworks during this last week of the Vuelta and although it is fun to follow the breakaways; nothing is happening in the General Rankings. Only the ITT and one mountain stage left to shake things up a bit.
The reports are already great, now it's up to the riders to end this Vuelta on a high!

Brambilla
Have a feeling he might have to pay for this on the final stages though. Still top10 looking pretty much safe for him.
Sucks that none of my trio went into the break for such move. Slowly dropping behind those break riders and now only 14th, 15th, 18th. Nice results, yes, but still missing this one stage win and one of them into the top10. Not much time left but at least the ITT could be handy for Keinath. |

Stupid. That's how we gave up position 7 or 9 to drop to 13 for Haig..

At least you know what's been wrong. Hope you will be fine soon! Thanks for this update on your health status.

I hope we receive an award at the end for "smartest" team of the year. It's incredibly how often we screwed ourselves by dumb tactics this year. I don't even know what to say anymore.

Solid result for Haig, up to 10th. Kinda fear another loss in the mountains though, he's not been riding very good most recently.. Expecting one or two breakaway riders to go past him then
We had a stage win with Bayly earlier, so please just join the breakaway next stage. I don't want to rely on just Haig and his fight for a Top-10. If he can defend this spot though, it would be fine. Two Top-10s in GTs in one season would be great for our future superstar

Looks like it's set for Taraamae now. Congrats on yet another win, ember!
Nesset with a surprisingly good TT. Hopefully that means he have some energy left and is ready for a shot in the break tomorrow!

Great to here that you're safe, Tamijo, and that you'll get further examinations and have got penicillin.
That's perfect from Taaramae!
He has really proven himself in these mountainous TTs, making the difference. And with more than a minute down to Pluchkin and Kritskiy in the overall now, this feels safe. Though, we won't take it for granted just yet, as you never know what this edition of PCM could throw at you. |

Okay, I guess I got what I asked for. Bongiorno to 14th overall - and aproximately where I expected him to finish in the GC.
I doubt he will attack for the KOM win, but it would be freaking amazing to see him try!
There is a lot of points on offer, and if the breakaway stays clear there could also be a jump in the GC on offer.
I think, however, that he won't attack, and instead he will drop to 17th or so in the GC, and lose atleast one spot in the KOM too.

Brambilla 2 stages away from the result of his career.

So I need Cattaneo not to lose time in the last 500m again, none of the riders behind to get in the winning break, and 2 of Quintana, Keizer and Haig to lose time in order to make my top 10 goal. I'm already preparing for the inevitable disappointment on top of Carthy somehow ending up down in the mid-30s when he's a top 20 rider on paper. Wish I just had sent Yates to every GT |

Not happy with Denifl losing his GC position to a rider of the break. Generally the amount of stages going to the breakaway is ridiculous. Also a shame Guerao was not really contesting the last sprint stage, I hope he will be better positioned in the ultimate stage, if he survives stage 20. |
