It's not really news, but Thomas De Gendt was pulled from a Zwift race because he was going so hard the game thought he was cheating

The online virutal cycling platform suspected foul play, and pulled him out of the race.

"Either you missed your calling as a pro, or there is something wrong with one of your devices," read a message on De Gendt's screen.
[...]
"On a climb I just did the numbers that I more or less push in a race. Suddenly I was blocked and neutralized by the game," he told Het Nieuwsblad.

he forgot to switch "Eddy Merckx mode" off

Yes, guy would have become a really obsessive pcm fan if he didn't turn out to be a pro

UCI confirms new Tour de France date from 29.08. to 20.09.

Tour de France when I'm already back at uni will be very bizarre and kind of sad. I guess this means the other GT's are officially canned.

It's a bit harsh but it is realistic and tbh I appreciate that, taking the Tour a couple weeks later or always on the limit never gives confidence, and although this date isn't certain aswell it's nice to see that there's real dates to focus and a lot of time to try and deal with the issue. I don't remember the last time I saw the whole Giro live so I'm used to these clashes, also opens up for a possible Vuelta finish here in Porto in November which surely is something to look forward for the winter.

In unrelated news, not gonna have PS4 but this is actually pretty cool.

Giro being talked about for October, and ASO are trying to see if they can fit Vuelta into November (which is a bold move). So at the moment all 3 GT's are still possible, certainly they are not officially cancelled

I'm not weather expert, but wouldn't October be too late for the Giro temperature wise?

If it does happen, it will be very interesting to see who decides to go. Riding a GT in October or November could reasonably alter their fitness schedules for the following season.

There's a heck of a lot to figure out... New TDF dates overlap new Worlds dates. Lombardia sits in October for an RCS Giro clash. UCI money maker Guangxi also in October. Plus with this ASO wants to move Dauphine so it's still a week or so ahead of the Tour, most national federations want to hold their NC's before the Tour still. ASO will also want to get Roubaix in still, Flanders still want Ronde, RCS still want MSR...

The UCI can extend the World Tour all the way to 31 December if they want, so if racing picks up in July/August could still fit in a lot of action.

Had the same thoughts but read of some people who in October have found for example Stelvio dry, not an expert aswell but in May you also find huge issues due to the weather. I think it's the right call first cause well alternative is to slot it after the Vuelta which would be worst, but also Spain's weather is much more stable so November wouldn't mean bad weather around a lot of the country.

Cool, out of such a crisis there could come special opportunities. Looking forward to a one-of-a-kind race calendar this year. In case anyone is in Paris for the final stage, let me know. Smile

Meant to be moving to Budapest in September, so I'd happily endorse an October Giro - especially as if it's running, chances are I'll still be able to move Pfft

French Prime minister has announced no sporting events will take place until September, thus meaning The Tour’s hypothetical start might be postponed again.

roturn
Let`s be realistic. A 3-week event going through the whole country with riders from all over the world with team staff from all over the World.

I would be hugely surprised if we see any kind of GT this year to be honest.

Even if the sport wants to continue lots of politics, flight bans etc. might become an issue depending on how long this goes.

alexkr00
I understand that having no race at all has a huge economic impact on everyone involved in it. But like roturn said, it's very unlikely we would have a normal race. It would probably turn into something like what we saw at Paris-Nice. And I'd rather have no race at all than that type of race at the Tour de France.
