Team depth really paying back right now.
Breakaway (with wrong rider though) and then Olivier / Hugenhaben to bring Velits back! First I was like, damn, why Olivier, then he was the perfect guy in the end having the strength to do so and Keinath a) is better placed and luckily not sent back and b) was super strong today proving to be a potential "leader". Not sure if anyone would wait though if he punctures. But better not find out.
Velits also did well in the end beating riders such as Quintana despite the puncture and Olivier lost another bit, which is absolutely fine. Though expectations of him going for stage wins and/or KoM in 3rd week is getting higher now obviously.
Well done ember for this showing of strength, gapping all other top climbers, which rarely happened in the Giro between the top riders.
And while Keinath already did well, wtf Brambilla. |

Ikr. I don't know what's going on with him, but I'm not complaining.
Let's see how he will handle the big mountains, but at this point it's looking quite good even in terms of the support Dombrowski will have at the Tour

Thanks for the report and the preview of week two! A key week for Haig, where he hopefully will be in good shape in the ITT..
As for today, it's good to see our guys active in the early breaks. No chance today, but if they keep doing this, we may be lucky at one day. Haig with a solid performance, I guess. A pity he lost contact to the leading group, but as long as he's climbing around the Top-10 every day, I will be satisfied. Maybe there will be a day for an earlier attack by himself? I dunno.

I have no idea why Lopez did so badly on these semi mountainous stages. He should have been amongst the best on these... :/
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

Cattaneo losing another minute to comparable riders, and Carthy absolutely exploding for no good reason. I give up, I really do. |

Great that Vink joined the break, but he didn't quite have the legs to do much in it. But at least he will still be able to ride in the KoM jersey on the next stage as well.
The man in red looking very strong at the moment. Congrats again on the win, ember. Looks like Rein just have one more gear than the others.
Nesset surpringsly good here. Great to see, hopefully more of that the coming days!
Thanks for the report, Tamijo! Some great shots

Very nice end to the first week for us Taaramae being just as good as we hoped for. Hopefully we can build on this and continue to chase stage wins on difficult stages.
Now we're looking ahead for stage 9 and especially the TT on stage 10. Those stages must be key for the GC, especially as we'll need to wait to stage 13 and the third week after that for the next challenging stages.
Very enjoyable reports, Tamijo. Obviously because Taramae is doing well, but also because I enjoy the reports and some very nice shots together with text that explains them well. |

Kudus looking great after a rather weak prologue. Seems the fight will be for a GC Top5, though we need to distance more riders like Haig, Keizer, even Keinath before the TT.

In theory some perfect stages for Kump. In praxis I shouldn't even bother getting my hopes up.

Argh. This is a day, where we simply need to be in breakaways!
First ever GT stage podium for aidanvn13?

Cool to see Vink trying again, but clearly the number of days spent in the break is starting to catch up on him. Some easier stages will probably be good for him now!

Vamoooos! Mosca has been amazing so far in his career, perfect stats for PT breakaways
Two times in breakaways in the race -> two stage wins. Pretty much perfect race so far. This is what we need to have a chance to save us from relegation after Alarcon's disasterclass in Giro.

Second time this race now that Van den Poel is dropped from the break, which takes it.
Really unlucky but still a talent.
Feel for Croatia as they really could do more here for Kump. |

Good to see we made it safe through that stage, before we're hopefully back at it at stage 9 which looks like another interesting stage, GC wise.
Big congratulations on the stage win, Aquarius! |
