Movistar seem to be spineless - they've lost both Landa and Quintana and are risking losing Carapaz to Ineos as well. Instead, Euzebio Unzue was focused on giving his golden boy Valverde an extension.

And now Carapaz confirmed in INEOS for 3 years, holy day for Movistar. But you know this is FULLY Movistar's fault, they ruined what was a brilliant partnership with Carapaz, INEOS just did the logic thing and contended for one of the future's (and present, very very present) stars.

Not bad for Unzue. Carapaz gone..future star? Maybe.
For me he is more like Anacona type of rider. Ineos for sure have roles to give for him..mountain train needed reboot.
Nairo..they have been really patient with him last 2 years have been not that ..what they expected. Full support talks..we did see what he did with full support at TdF..he was dropped by he's own team mates.
Valverde
39 is nothing for that guy, still delivers. Laugh or cry.
Landa do not know himself..what team is good for him, what races for plan to season..mess.
Why not to start next year fresh with Soler, Mas, Valverde, Cataldo, new young faces, loads of free money. Unzue will be fine. Do not be worried. |

Bold to put Carapaz and Anacona in comparison. One is the Giro champion and in his last three GT rides has finished Top20, the other only managed one GT Top20 in seven years.
I agree that i don't think Carapaz is going to get massively better, what we saw in the Giro is pretty much his peak. But Ineos should be able to pull that sort of ride out more consistently for the next 5 years or so.
Movistar will be fine next year. Clearly this current plan hasn't worked properly, re-focusing on new leaders and a new plan will pay off. Plus financially this was probably nessesary for the teams longer term stability.

Barbero's next to leave the Movistar ship, as he's joining the rebranded NTT Team.

The part of that video where the person asks if he's interested in table tennis and the reply is "I don't speak Chinese"

So Brailsford has undertaken surgery for prostate cancer.
While I detest the guy and want him out of the sport, cancer is the worst and I hope he recovers fully. Prostate cancer can have very different outcomes. Hope he comes out with a good one.

Not really transfernews but I was kind of surprised to not see SKA in the Danish selection for the WC. I found him very strong in the first hilly stage in the Binck Bank Tour, then know he became a little sick and abandoned. Still I'm surprised he's not there. Does anyone know more about this? |

Could be something to do with the role he was offered. The Danish national coach have been very clear that he would be offering specific roles so it could be that SKA was offered a slot as a dedicated helper and turned that down.
