3 non-managers. A smattering more aren't on Skype really but generally most people are around at some point especially transfers almost everyone is.
Agree on both your points though, that almost seemed a deliberately shitty way to count it

I don't believe the ability to quote is overstated. I think it is integral to discussion when you want to respond to a discussion that might have happened while you were away with 100 messages in between. And I don't think those alternatives are nearly as easy imo.
You can also make nicknames for everyone else on Skype. So you can't change it for servers, but I've simply changed everyone from MG to their daily nickname in my contacts. Same thing. Also makes it easier for PM's.

I won't argue that having the ability to quote isn't a very useful feature, but I'm saying the argument is overstated because when Discord is better than Skype in pretty much every other way relevant to the MG chat, and more convenient for many, it shouldn't be the sole deciding factor. Especially not when Discord offers alternatives. And you're right, those alternatives aren't as easy, but if you really need to quote someone, you are able to.
If I remember correctly, you can only change the nickname of your contacts in Skype, right? So you would have to add everyone, and either way, go through the trouble of changing all the names. That's a lot of work compared to Discord.

The sole deciding factor will be user base, hence why i made a simple Skype vs Discord vote.
The base line to reach in votes is 17 (17 being the number of unique members that commented in Skype in the last week, seems like a good measure to use to me).
If you use Skype at the moment but would prefer Discord, vote Discord. If Discord gets more than 17 votes, and is ahead of Skype, we'll move. If it doens't, we stick with Skype (would need to be confimed with Roturn first). Simple as.
Skype works fine, has done for the last few years and will continue to work. Discord would also work perfectly fine. We just want to get the most members together as possible.
And ultimately, the forum is still the place for official talk, threads etc, and is the only place that will contirbute to your activity in the game when it comes to disbands etc.

My feeling is that we should stay as we are (at least through this off-season) for a number of reasons:
1) Most existing managers already on the Skype system, and transfers are potentially getting close - shifting system just before transfers will likely cause some confusion, and make it more difficult in particular for managers who come back at short notice (imo).
2) MG Skype is generally very quiet during the season, picking up in the off-season (99% of which is still just idle banter). This is actually good, as means most real relevant discussion is on the forum (as it should be). If part of the argument for Discord is that it is easier, it might then syphon off some discussion that should really live here on the forum pages which is therefore a negative in this context.
3) I'm old, and not up to the technical challenges of adjusting to new fangled systems all the damn time!  
Due to #3, if a slim majority are in favour of Discord, can we still at least please leave it until the new season starts before any 'migration'.

Im all in favor of keeping Skype. Dont know Discord but the ability to quote seems very important to me and i have skype to stay in contact with some other guys and wouldnt want to install a second similar messenger. Pretty sure id deinstall discord right after transfers if wed join and if id even download it.

Final decision, sticking with Skype.
As side chat which sits secondary to being active on the forum itself ultimately we saw no reason to move away from Skype. It works perfectly fine for what we need, and Discord does not out-weigh it enough in terms of userbase. You can join us on Skype, details below, but if you don't want to then please please please post more general discussion here on the forum.
