Too bad Koretzky was too slow to react. He seemed to be the strongest rider yet again. 4th is OK, but doesn’t give much. Also there were good KOM and PTS points on offer. Unfortunately he will end up getting very little points from other than stagepoints.

Oooh that looked like a close call. Kruijswijk almost dropping Bewley and winning the race. Nice work by Hofland. Second in GC is good too; I'll take it.
Potts dropping is a shame though.

Can understand the frustration on puncher teams but for myself it's great to see that the plan absolutely worked out.
Said before the season that Gallopin is supposed to carry the team here alongside Boom and he fantastically did. Both worked well together and then VdP top25 and Bovenhuis top40 as well is great.

Van der Hoorn better had saved the energy for the final sprint instead of going for the wins at the intermediates.
But anyway, still a very solid 4th by him and a fantastic overall performance by the team.
5th, 7th, 24th, 37th in GC plus U25 jersey, 1 stage win, 2nd in the team ranking.
Was definitely a needed result after the Balkans desaster.

I love the "peloton takes back time and then suddenly doesnt as soon as we enter the last 20 km" thing, but oh well. Boeckmans didn't win the sprint anyway. A very good race from Wisniowski. Not so super from the rest of the team, but all in all a good race for us. Congrats Roman.

Not much to celebrate for us, though. Must admit I'm disappointed, as this was suppoesd to be one of the highlights this season. It started well, with Trentin keeping up in the TTT, but from there, it only went downhill

This proved a nice distraction from our PCT relegation battle, with some stirring performances, not least from Arrisol cracking the top 15 on GC - not bad for a 50K wage domestique! Bush's 2nd on one of the later stages was the best individual stage performance, and given that he was seen in long conversation with stage winner Mraouni prior to the finish, the internet went crazy speculating that Bush gave the stage to his on-loan to the PT team-mate.
Bewley was pushed hard to retain the leaders jersey by various competitiors, and the usual eclectic mix of riders was on show vying for the win and throughout the top 10, with the ToNE profile offering various different style of riders the opportunity to shine.

More catching up!
Going into ToNE is never easy as pre-race expectations are rarely met throughout the race, in particular when your team isn't centered around a clear versatile leader for such a route.
As Blythe left, our focus lies on Declerq for a consistent, but anonymous race, as well as Kelderman hopefully doing something on the hilly stuff. Cavagna gets a first taste of a race he might target in the future, and the rest of the team will try to make the TTT result bearable.
And the TTT already went crazy well for us, a massive effort by everyone involved that surely doesn't represent the pure roster ability!
With Cavagna and Weinstein improving next season and Ganna joining the team, this should be a great foundation to build on for future editions of this TTT.
Stage 2 went entirely our way too. Actually, this surely is the point where clearly everything will fall apart very quickly going forward, with the entire team waiting for the wrong rider in important situations?
Cavagna in white makes this race a success for him already though, as I hope he will grow fond of this race and follow in Boom's footsteps eventually.
The third stage leaves us with mixed feelings, as getting into a leader jersey is always a great achievement, but obviously a human player would've tried to save Declerq and Cavagna to keep them in the GC mix rather than having Dunne and Bol in the second group. Also, this likely will lead to awful team tactics on the cobbles.
It always requires a lot of consideration to put together the roster for this race, and if the HC bands give Kelderman more opportunities to use his RD next season, I don't think it's worth bringing him here again. He just soaks up too many resources in the hilly stages for the points and time gains those provide.
The cobbled stage 4 actually went quite decent for us, 8 minutes for Kelderman isn't a worst case scenario, and Declerq stayed with the best and moves into the Top 10. Too bad the first hilly stage didn't go as planned for him.
Cavagna might get back into the Top 5 U25 riders, and Dunne+Bol kept quite decent GC positions.
Stage 5, the TT, and yet again a Puma surprise! I didn't expect us to be visible here with Sütterlin going to his home race, but DvB smashed this. Great points for the team, and surely a deserved reward for being a reliable domestique for most of his career.
Nothing to see on stage 6, so back into the hills! Expectations are too high for comfort here, with five riders in the Top 50 for us and Declerq having a shot at the Top 10 if we get the strategy right...
And Rémi Cavagna is on a mission! A great ride by the young Frenchman, further ensuring his participation here will be remembered.
Conor goes next! A weird race situation develops, but I don't complain.
Or do I? This move has left Kelderman in a defensive mode.
But in the end, everything works out great for Puma, as Dunne takes an amazing stage podium, and Kelderman+Declerq+Cavagna (where did he take that energy from?) all make it to the line in the peloton.
To wrap this race recap up, we leave with places 9, 22, 23, 32 and 39 in the GC, third in the KoM and second in the U25 standings.
A very important step towards the final PT ranking has been made, with consistent riding all throughout, and highlights in both time trials as well as Cavagna's bid for future leadership in this race.
A special shoutout goes to our big Irishman Dunne, he is and will remain an important, versatile cornerstone of this team with his performances.
Last but not least, obviously congratzZZZzzzZz to Bewley, and thank you Abhishek for expertly covering the action!
