Some real-life stuff: Proud to share I've picked up four state-wide awards — sports page (1st and 3rd), sports series (honorable mention) and sports photo (honorable mention) — for my work as a sports reporter for a large daily newspaper here in the USA.
We are the smallest large daily in the state, so we hardly ever get any awards. So, to get that many awards in a year is pretty rare around here.
Slowly, but surely I might work my way up to cover the Tour de France one day...
In other news/shameless plug, PCM.Daily Favourite Cyclist Contest is up and running for a 10th and final season. Get your votes in!

If you want some insight into how useless that ranking is, I'm at a net $295 loss right now, and sit 5th overall. There have been so few bets that I've gotten a top placing just by being on the site every week.
Congrats Mre! Amazing work!

Any sites that I should be looking at in particular for buying cycling accessories? I'm looking for some Fdj arm warmers.

Today, I cross into (or closer) to your time zones for the first time! By this time tomorrow, I'll be in Ireland. My father has been planning and trying to save up enough money to take us there for a really long time, and it's finally happening. My grandparents immigrated from there around 70 years ago, and so in addition to the normal sites, we're going to visit where they grew up, as well as some relatives who I've never met.
I don't recall any big Irish members here since Dippofix left, but thought I'd share. I'm super excited. It's my first time going overseas or even out of my own time zone, and I get to use it to see my heritage.
There's also the secondary benefit that I don't have to go to work for the next 8 days.
RIP Exxon Duke, David Veilleux, Double Feature, and Monster Energy

I just realized my 10-year PCM.Daily anniversary was nine days ago.
Crazy how fast time flies. Shout out to all the people still hanging out here.

Funny I was actually thinking about when mine was last night too. Was too lazy to actually look until just now, but it was apparently over a month ago.

There's been a general decline in activity, but especially in the off topic threads. Guess people go other places for general discussion. Initially the Skype groups took a lot of that activity, but now those are dead except for MG purposes.

It's just a general problem with forums as a whole tbh, it's not just Daily. |

Yes, forums in general decline as the "forum generation" is no longer students or pupils and now having jobs and less time.
So much easier to get all the information now without a forum due to smartphones/apps etc. and also communication has changed to other areas such as social media I guess.
And that PCM is probably losing lots of regular customers over the last 5 years, which wasn`t that extreme in the first 10-15 years of CYM/PCM. Likely Steam playing a role as well as there no longer is the need to have patch installation and database stuff explained when steam makes most of it automatically. So potentially new PCM players might not even search for PCM sites.
Lots of reasons really for PCM and real cycling discussions to decline. |
