You posted that whilst I was typing, my phone clearly isn't the quickest when I'm typing whilst watching twitch on split screen function.

The only thing saving hillis from speculation is jseadog claim of looking at him first night, if you are right that jseadog is framer, not detective, wouldn't it make sense that hillis is the third member, jseadog saving him from speculation instead of claiming a townie as an insurance policy?

Moderator thoughts & comments:
- First of all, congrats to the mafia!
- It didnt felt like "the mafia won this" but more like "the town lost this" due to the many mistakes the town made.
- i hate early no lynches but with a strongman to reduce the chance of a doctor save and even player number and odd mafia number, the town could have used one nolynch at some point although doing so would remove a lot of the benefit of having a doctor
- i think day 1 action was still far too low with only quadsas and jandal really trying to use the day already.
- quadsas' role was interesting to watch. I liked some of his thoughts a lot, e.g. a coordinated mass claim on day 1 would have been quite a good move in this setup by the town and getting ryant to claim politician (in the neighbours chat). However, he seemed to adjust badly to how many on pcmdaily play and thus, did more harm than good in the end: e.g. having only some normal townies claim their roles is a very bad outcome for the town since the mafia can make good educated guesses who are which power roles but the town struggles. I'd love to see him play next time again as i feel like he understands the game better than most other players in this game. Notable also that his last two votes were both on mafia players. That said, i understood his lynch well.
- i have no idea how marco ended up lynched day 1. This was such a weird situation since two of the three voters saw him as pro-town and the lynch could have been easily switched to hillis (when the intention was to save quadsas) in the final few minutes of the day with those that were active at the time and it would have looked far more logical by nearly everyone involved.
- I liked nearly every use of a night action. Good choices by everyone. Only huge surprise to me was that the mafia feared a switcheroo by df and someone else as neighbours the last night.
- TMMs tracker claim looked very believable and the town did well to believe him. However I'm stunned that nobody even questioned who was visited by jandal to make sure TMMs conclusion that jdog is detective makes sense. (jandal visiting df hints more towards detective imo)
- In Mafia VIII not voting quickly on the (possibly) final day was a big topic. I'm surprised how quickly everyone threw their votes around like it didnt matter. The mafia had two opportunities to quickhammer - end the day by lynching either sammy or bbl
- I can understand df very well, trying to change the lynch vote away from bbl without claiming immediately since a claim means that the town has to lynch correctly on three consecutive days while a succesful deflection without a claim might get the town another misslynch opportunity if he makes a save.
- Very unfortunate for the town that df claims his doctor role after the day ended and effectively removes the chance of a doctor save with it.
- It's very difficult to proclaim someone best player of the game. If i had to pick someone I'd probably pick Croatia although he didnt really participate too much in this game and mainly just let the town do its stuff.
- Special thanks to kandesbunzler who had agreed to be the replacement in case of extreme trekbmcing by a player. I'm glad it wasnt necessary though.

Damnit, i guess i misunderstood how the tracker worked. I thought the Framer would make two moves, so when JDog only made one it meant he couldn't be the Framer. That mistake definitely spiralled my logic in the wrong direction.

And definitely would have helped df to come forward sooner to correct my claim that Jandal was Doctor leaving JDog as detective. That would have changed things because then either it's JDog or df as Mafia and to focus on one or two is a lot easier. Or at least raised enough doubt to stick with lynching trek over others.

But given Sammy was doomed i'm still happy with the play overall at the end.
Definitely still prefer to play this game irl, it's sooooo much better and more creative.

Congrats to the mafia, lesson is still to lynch the quieter ones first Pfft

Congrats to mafia who played pretty flawlessly without much obstacles but (as I’ve been telling him) I agree with knockout that we kind of lost this more than the mafia won it: the logic for me that if I visited df trek instead of ryant I mustn’t be doctor, I am not mafia as confirmed by knockout’s post, and so therefore I am detective was super clear I thought and so the last 24 hours were anguish to watch for me. But no hate to any of the town Smile Looking forward to next edition, and if I’m playing hopefully doing it for more than a day! Pfft

I think Mafia should be stripped of their win, because instead of killing the ONLY player that can't be saved by the doctor, and that's the very own doctor, they go with other player. Omg, would have been amazing is Df gets the save...

First off, thanks for the game knockout!

Also, was very surprised to see hillis die, I thought we were killing df and my paranoia that he was a neighbour would be dismissed as just that. Pfft

It was kinda weird game to be honest, quadsas' tactics may work in town of salem, but the mass claim plan became less and less effective as the game went on and it was easy to ridicule as mafia, I could just continuously point and go "Look at these terrible tactics" without putting any real reasoning into my attack (sorry about that Sammy & quadsas, I don't really think your tactics are bad, though perhaps a little too aggresive to get the town on your side).

That whole mess with Marco & quadsas' death made it easy for us to all reach the end just by blending in and accusing other players, which also means that a couple of our mafia tactics never got to play out. Pfft

Also, TMM, I hope you weren't offended that I seemed intent to get you out, I knew because we'd gone for each other in previous games that it wouldn't be suspicious if I went for you again. Pfft

Anyway, thanks to everyone for the game, it was well played despite the chaos. Smile

It was an interesting night, the decision may have been changed when 2 mafia members could not see it or change it. Pfft

However: I'm pretty sure either trek or me would've survived at the end. Luckily I got the other power roles in my last post about who could be mafia and who is suspicious right, so I guess I should've survived a couple of days. And then trek was a likely brownie if I turn out mafia anyway Wink

Sorry to quasdas and Sammy as well. Your tactics were indeed legitimate. Though imo a lot less fun and also very risky, as we could be killed all power roles starting with the doc one by one. I guess it's not a good tactic, but worth trying if townies fail. It makes the game less entertaining though, that is for sure.

Why would you not start with the strongman kill on the detective, so you don't have to use the framer, making the tracker and doctor roles useless (killing doctor night 2) whilst giving yourself no chance of being caught, other than tracker catching strongman night 1.

For those that still don't understand the mass claim idea, you get 4 confirmed townies day 1, forcing the night kills to be on those people meaning instead of finding 3 in 12 you are finding 3 in 8.

The mafia already know everyone's alignment, the town needs to work out who is confirmed town to narrow down who can be mafia, you aren't giving the mafia that much more knowledge than they already have as the roles aren't as important as knowing the player is confirmed town as there is too much potential between the framer and godfather for the detective to be wrong, and there isn't a town role that can get them a kill.

I feel like df_trek needed to come forward earlier in the last day, I didn't realise the votes on bbl were so high at the end, but df_trek trying to argue against jseadog without claiming was making himself sound like mafia and was reducing the credibility of his doctor counter claim imo. Knowing jseadog was caught by TMM and that he couldn't be correct it would have been a very easy lynch for the town and an earlier final day doctor claim, especially if it was before jseadog could get on where he would have had enough time to condemn him before the counter claim/ defence judging by how long mine and his conversation that final day lasted when he tried to pressure TMM into revealing who it was.

Yes df_trek would have been the obvious night kill but his logic all game suggests he could have left his thoughts on the table and made sure we knew who he suspected and why before we piled on the lynch vote and made sure we got the first mafia member.

Alright so let me try to explain some more for you guys:

Night 1: Croatia and df_trek were missing in action from the mafia chat all day and all night on the first game day so I was really on my own. I chose to kill jandal due to him hosting every episode of the game and thinking he would be a stronger player for the town in the long run.

Day 2: quadsas was actually annoying me and even though it should have been obvious he was town I saw an opportunity to get rid of him.

Night 2: I actually wanted to let ryant survive. I knew the doc would save him and I wanted to save the strongman and lynch sammy instead. The other mafia though it was too risky for trekbmc to survive another day and use it on night 3 instead.

Day 3: The plan here was actually for me to claim detective at some point in the day anyway. TMM fueled my fire when he backed me up before I even had to make that claim. I was originally going to say I investigated trekbmc on day 1 but chose otherwise.

Night 3: Here is where things got interesting. I started to think what if df_trek and someone else like sammy were neighbors and sammy told df_trek to make a doctor claim with the accompanying info. In turn, df could have been saved by sammy and we would have lynched df wrongly meaning the mafia was in deep trouble.

Now, I'd like to say I am the only member to now win 2 games in a row :lol:

Means I should probably take the next few off or be a big target. Also, I don't understand why players like sammyt93 use the argument about how I play the game. Even if I was a townie, I would be playing the game the exact same way that I do now. It won't change anytime soon.
