Good work by our team. A rare picture for mountain stages: Bennelong leading the pack
Nice 3rd place for Morton, but surely a pity that those guys at the front could not gap the leading group eventually. It looked promising for a while, but eventually those minor bonifications probably won't help you too much. Any bad daily form will make for much more than those few seconds.. Still, can't complain for once. Guys showed our colors, controlled the bunch and Morton sprinted to a rare podium stage result..

Well, that's the podium gone already I guess.
Gotta be happy the pace was so low if Herklotz really had such a bad day. Maybe this opens up some opportunity for early attacks along the way.

Vesely making it three straight flat stage wins in this race, impressive! Weird gaps (and a shitty profile) on stage 2!
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."

A good start. Good results from both Van Poppel and Dombrowski.
I guess hoping Dombrowski might be a favorite for the win here when I sent him, but looking at the start list, a podium will do

Very good save by Guldhammer, as he must have come from quite a way back in the peloton seeing he's not in the picture with one kilometer left. Eventhough that was a very dull mountain stage, I'll happily take it thinking of Guldhammer, as that means just as many hilly stages as mountain stages left, which should be a good thing.
Looking forward to see us fight in the TTT now, as I think we might have an underrated team there, which hopefully suits Guldhammer's TT abilities well.
Congratulations on the stage win, SN! The legend is certainly not dead Herklotz losing time is also probably a good thing considering the hilly stages, as it should see some aggressive racing, which hopefully plays into Guldhammer's hands as well. |

Nice win for SN and Schleck. I'm a little scared seeing Amador finishing outside of the top 10 here, but from a time standpoint the stage could not have gone better. Tomorrow is our best chance for a stage win and to gain an advantage on the other contenders, so I'm hoping really looking forward to tomorrow's stage.

Around expected from Iturria, hopefully he'll keep up with that.
Great to see Van Niekerk in the break again and getting the margins on his side to take the KoM lead outright. Brilliant ride by him!

Same time as Herklotz on a mountain stage and gaining on direct opponents such as Nibali.
Must have been a great stage for me. |

Oh come on, I'm winning that huge first mountain sprint and it is only enough to be tied for 2nd? ffs |

Not the best TTT, but neither a huge failure. Could have went better, could have went worse.
Morton on 3rd after this stage is still a good thing. Of course it's like nothing for the final GC, but he has something to fight for, at least.

Congratulations, Bushwackers! Dominant win, gapping second place with just as much time as there is between second and seventh place.
Good stuff by the team, with Guldhammer, as the weakest link on paper of those five, being among the five riders that went all the way to the line. 4th in the GC as it stands now is a brilliant start for him here, and hopefully he can make use of that hilly stage and gap most other GC riders.
It's obviously very tight from the top, and I guess Herklotz remains the favourite even as 12th overall at this point. He has shown before he's able to make great use of good days, and as it stands now, it only takes one good day to jump from 12th to first.
In any case, with the lack of big gaps on the first mountain stage, the current GC makes for interesting racing the final three days. |

Decent TTT and nice seeing Gillett taking a surprise top 10 on stage 4. Van Niekerk still in the KoM and Iturria sitting nicely in 18th position, so very happy with the race so far for us.
Herklotz just continuing a fantastic season here... Incredible.

Too bad Dombrowski couldn't hold on to that lead in the final kilometers. A few seconds on Schelck and co would have been nice.

This German kid is just too strong..
Well. It doesn't come as a big surprise. Hopefully, Morton will be more visible in the mountains. And of course he needs a good daily form in the TT.

Herklotz is so frickin good...
Good result by Mansilla. Had minor hopes on this stage for such an result but figured with attacks the odds would be slim. Guess i was wrong

Good move there from McCarthy, albeit a little late. Would have loved a stage win from our wildcard appearance but 2nd is still nice - and there's always the remaining stages for him, Monsalve or Yates.
Meanwhile Herklotz continues to remind me that training Yates will turn him into something extraordinary... |

Maybe I should today, just for the fun of it
Must say I thought stage 7 was the hilly stage for making a move of any kind, as this one seemed to have a too easy profile to make gaps. Not for Herklotz, clearly. When it first became a stage where the favourites had a go at each other, I'm disappointed Guldhammer never tried. Although the likely result would have been arriving with the peloton seeing how it went for all attackers except Herklotz and McCarthy, I would still prefer to see him try. Especially considering his hill and acceleration stat, which should make for a great combination on such stages.
And seeing how close it is at the top, the upcoming TT will be of great significance. But first, fingers crossed for another Vesely win! |
