Congrats Sotd, Coquard getting some good points by being leader of the race as well.
Soupe with another good stage, quite happy about him sitting at 5th in GC

Thanks...
Great win from Coquard here. I was almost certain he would screw up when opening that early, but the corners helped him to gain the sufficient space to succeed. Nice to see the 3 best sprinters acting like it really.
Peter Kennaugh is performing horribly here, but always creating a train which is definately not good for him with only one rider capable of supporting him where Aegon and ourselves have 4 riders. That's a losing battle easily and when not following either of those trains, it's bound to work out poorly. Too bad really, as he should have gained quite some time.
2 out of 5 is decent, to a level that was to be expected. Swift not quite as good yet, but definately going strong now with a win and a 2nd place. I have to hope for atleast one more stagewin to keep the lead for as long as possible. After the flat stages the only points we can gain are those from the points competition - so leading that by quite a margin is really important. For now it's very very close, and could be lost on daily basis!
In order to have a shot at winning the points competition in the end we need atleast 200 points - taking the Giro as benchmark. For that to happen we need all flat'ish stages to stay together, Coquard to perform ATLEAST 3rd all the time, and to gain a few points here and there in the point sprints through the stages - Which we know are never going to happen.
Stage 15 could be the decider. If Coquard can survive to take a few points it might be possible.
But then again, he probably won't even make it to the finish

Hmm, Coquard played that outright stupid. He had all the chance in the world to get an easy win, but decided to play it another way, ending out losing to the 2 riders he mustn't lose to. Now everything is open to lose the jersey(s) on tomorrow stage, which isn't ideal as it really isn't suiting him too well with that hard climb fairly close to the line.
I have a bad feeling. And obviously this wasn't good for the points competition either.

6 days in and despite rescueing it somewhat with 2 stage wins and another podium, I feel like going for sprinters this year makes my team act under expectations quite a lot.
On paper it`s really weird to see Swift being that weak on 3 days! Awful small amount of points at those days, which I was hoping to get.
Simply no consistency from them.
Looking forward on future days. |

Can anyone tell me when Simon Clarke was assigned the role as lead sprinter of my team? |

Maybe Kennaugh is ill or something? We have seen some good sprinters care little about sprints in recent races too.

Pretty nice performance from Borges. It seems he's been given a free role has hoped. Now we just need to pray for a miracle breakaway win!
Two stages for Swift. Seems less bad this way for Aegon, I guess. Congrats then roturn!

My whole team dropped back together again
Actually i do like it because that might give Vosekalns the freedom to attack on the very first mountain stage.
Swift back on form, benefiting from a weak Coquard to take the lead. Guess the race was worth it for him now

Not much to comment on from our point of view so far, invisible and efficient riding so far. Bol in a break or two couldn't have hurt though.
Too bad Bar is very strong, but not always very smart.

4th is okay. But whatever Kennaugh's excuse is, it's not good enough. |

Swift goes for the hattrick. Congrats roturn. Nothing much for us so far, looking forward to the following stages.

Dominant by Van der Lijke! A first little test for the GC guys, looked like Martin coped fine with that. Looking forward to the mountains now, it's been a long Vuelta for us so far with only one stage with a man in the break... Thx for the report, AQ!

From a good Vuelta to a bad one in recent stages. Only 3rd now, also losing points. Also now really without a chance to succeed in the overall points competition, gifting the GC riders points here.
Only a stagewin now is good enough.

I have to say I disagree with that photo-finish
Great effort from Silvio there, too bad it's not the outright white jersey, but it should be obtainable in the TT now with Cataford having lost time already.

Horton got so close. The report hot my hopes high when he was in the front group at the last 5km point with a solid gap because his stat set marks a perfect finisseur. A shame that he couldnt bring it through

So here we are... the Vuelta 2018, our Sponsor goal is Top-10, but we hope for more (Top-5 or maybe even podium!). We are here with our strongest line-up possible and we really need to score points if we want to compete in the World Tour next season. Up until now the whole team stayed out of trouble and Samolenkov is performing better than expected:
Stage 1 | 13th | Artem Samolenkov | Team Tinkoff | Stage 2 | 10th | Artem Samolenkov | Team Tinkoff | Stage 3 | 6th | Artem Samolenkov | Team Tinkoff | Stage 4 | 10th | Artem Samolenkov | Team Tinkoff | Stage 5 | 10th | Artem Samolenkov | Team Tinkoff | Stage 6 | 10th | Artem Samolenkov | Team Tinkoff | Stage 7 | 6th | Artem Samolenkov | Team Tinkoff |
Kritskiy was where he needed to be at stage 8 and together with all the other GC-favourites without time loses through the first week. He is really looking forward to stage 10 - ITT of 56km - but first another flat stage. Thanks for all the high quality reports so far Aquarius97!!!
And congratulations to tsmoha, SportingNonsense, viking90, 2x SotD and 3x roturn!

Really looking forward to the mountains starting soon, even with Soupe overperforming. Will be really interesting to see how Marquez acc stat helps him
And always great to see someone steal the KoM from Evonik :-p
