Unfortunately this dog didn't work out how we had hoped. We got some complaints from neighbors because he won't stay quiet at daytime when nobody is home. He is also pooping and peeing inside the apartment, not listening to commands or learning his lesson. He also refuses to come up the apartment steps for who knows why.
It was a lesson that was well learned. We are returning him to the shelter so he can find a better and happier home.

Sounds like the right call. Rescue dogs are always more difficult since there usually is a reason they ended up in the shelter in the first place.
For a beginners dog I'd recommend either a puppy or a dog from a home you know where it's not problems with the dog that makes people part with it.

The issue with a puppy is how energetic they are and we would still be gone from home 8ish hours a day. That would leave insufficient time to train it and also take care of it. At least thats what I have heard.

Well, tbh, having a dog at all, whilst both people have a full-time job, is not the way to go. For the first weeks, you should mostly be with the dog and if it's a puppy, you can't just leave it alone for 2h or longer. Training a dog is a pretty time consuming act which CAN work, when both owners are having a full-time job, but mostly it just won't. Especially huskys, which are known to be stubborn at times. We once had a husky in our family(owned by one of my uncles) and he said, that he walked him 2h in the morning, before work, 3h directly after work and 2h before going to bed. That's 7h a day alone walking your dog.
For a guy, who's new to dogs, adopting one should always be the way to go. Those dogs are mostly happy to find a new home and you don't have that really stressful puppy-life to endure. Look out for australian shepards, eurasians and boxers. Those are dogs that are more easy to train. Also they need less walking/running.

Get a cat. You can just ignore them and they love you more for it
I agree with Paul though. It's not really fair on the dog to leave it locked up alone for several hours everyday. Seems like you made the right call.

A puppy is definitely a lot of work, but so are all dogs. Huskies more than most
Adoption can be a good option but it really depends on the reason why the dog has been put up for adoption. A grown dog with behavioural problems require more work than most puppies, though a different kind of work that require a much higher skill level. In my work as a vet I have seen to many of these that end up biting people or other animals because the adopting home wasn't up for the task.
A family dog that needs to move due to allergies/new job/new living conditions or something like that can be a good option though.
The best advice however is sitting down to outline what kind of time you can offer the dog, what you would like to do with it, how much coat care your up for and how much physical space you have for it.
Then when you know that you can start matching that up against different breeds. No breed is right for everyone.

This dog was originally brought in as a stray and the owners never came for him. The second owners got rid of him because he would not leave the other family dog alone and it was afraid. I was the 3rd owner and the dog has bad separation anxiety and I did not know until afterwards.
I wanted to get a cat and am still throwing around the idea as they are self-reliable and do not require much work. As most of you said, a full time job with someone else (both working the same shift) does not make for a successful dog operation and we chose to return him to avoid any further emotional attachment or destruction to apartment.
A boxer was our 2nd choice, but we are weary about trying again as we don't want to get stuck with something or have this happen again which would make a bad name for myself.

Still alive!
There's a big shout-out to SN and Roturn (and whoever else was involved) for maintaining my MG team through the off-season. It is so massively appreciated, even if i was incredibly unhelpful over the last month.
Taking an almost complete two month break has actually been really nice. PCM + Daily have not crossed my mind (outside a small amount of MG stuff) even a little in that time period.
But now i might actually get PCM18 up and running, check it out and begin playing PCM properly again, which will draw me back in very quickly.
Anyway, i'm back and alive. Still i'm planning to slowly bring myself back into things, beginning with a ton of MG catch-up, before moving onto other discussions and happenings.
And i've still got a new avatar to decide on

Welcome back and have fun with particularly the MG catch-up. Luckily for you, the season is still young.

You've never seen the Passo Giau, the famous Giro climb, quite like this before. Well worth watching! The best bit is from 8:00 in.

Yeah took my 2 months of daily as well, only checking occasonally and keeping myself from posting while being on holidays (though silent reading sometimes has happened). Travelling 2 months through Canada (and few parts of the US) on a budget, by couchsurfing, hitchhiking, endless bus drives and wildcamping has been a big-time experience for my life.
But now I'm back for the good times: pcm.daily. My plan right now is to both continue the favourite of my old ideas/commitments and trying new ones. Though being a full time student again (first time really motivated for two years now) and also doing voluntary work, playing volleyball semi-professionally, further sport boundaries and travel plans will make me face fluctuations in my daily activity. However, a couple of things stand as basement for my future daily activity.
ICL has always been one of my favourite parts on daily. Of course I will continue supporting that with working behind the scenes, supporting bikex who is running the game brilliantly for years. Grupo Argos - Quala will go for gold there this year as well, trying to continue the trend of becoming better and better every year ;)
Man-Game can't stop now of course with Isostar being the Slovenian project in the Pro Tour. The season star was quite decent for us, and I'll furtherly focus on making Slovenia a World Class country in the MG universe, trying to establish Isostar - Slovenija in the PT while developing regional talents.
There are a couple of further story games and projects I will continue participating in or join. One of my favourite projects is jandal's Carbon Throne, which I will support in the future (and may sacrifice my team in there for which I love) if it is necessary to help it running.
I used to be a lot more active in the Story Section, though that has changed in the last couple of years. I enjoyed great times with my attempts, especially finishing the Andy Schleck story back then. Now it's time to get active again, reviving one of my old ideas as I feel like I have a fitting plan to draw a sustainable and interesting project, where follows can join in determining the developments, out of it. Check it out :)
Also: I'll set up a small new long-term game: 21 and Done It is about finding young talents and following their paths in the cycling world. In a draft system participants can add up a team of U21 riders, with draft rounds taking place each quarter of a year. The only competition really is to compare how your choices of riders in their youth times turn out in their career progress. Who is going to find the first future Grand Tour or Monument winner?

Croatia: I'm going to try to continue my favorite things on the site while real life is super busy.
Also Croatia: Here are 9000 old and new initiatives I'm gonna be working on at the absolute minimum.
Rest assured even your two month absence was more productive for the site than daily contributions, so you don't have to worry about potential fluctuations in activity.
Welcome back!

Sad day as WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns was forced to forfeit his championship and instead return home to battle Leukemia. Prayers for Roman in his 2nd stint dealing with this horrible disease.
The avatar will now be "Vacant" as the title is until November 2nd when Braun Strowman and Brock Lesnar go H2H in Saudi Arabia for Crown Jewel PPV. That has been a whole fiasco in itself as many people feel like the WWE should break its deal with the Saudis after the reported assassination of a US journalist.

Are tracked thread notifications down for anyone else, or is it just me? Or am I the only one that still uses them anyway?

Is is just my home computer, work computer and mobile all coincidentally playing up, or is PCMDaily running very slowly over the last few days?

I've noticed that too, but for me it was just one thread, which jandal seemed to be having trouble with too given his quadruple posts.
