Guess I can write this one off too. If this stage didn't produce gaps, the last one won't either. Some sort of miracle needed to get much from this race now. Surprise me

Someone's earned an avatar change this month - Bennett the GOAT, what a man More than helping me get over Meintjes (in the short-term sense) if he can keep doing this well! Shame he couldn't follow Villela for a shot at the stage - tough with the Italian's ACC anyway - but 2nd is a very nice result (and some aggression earlier in the day!). Moved into top 20 GC too, which he'll lose on Stage 5 but hopefully could gain back. Velits safe and up to 5th on GC, hope the next stages go well! Very nice to see Henao not dropping any minutes, but could be bad for us!
Now for tomorrow, and using our flat domestiques here to hopefully reel in the breakaway to give Tosh a shot at bettering GB's result today! Congrats to whitejersey and cheers to tsmoha!

Nazaret (and Shikai), 71HIL, lose 9'30 & 10'08
Borisavljevic, 73HIL, loses 7'22
Keizer & Henao Montoya, 71HIL, finish in the front group
Shows how much luck I've had here... Nazaret better make a long range attack on the final mountain stage now

Wow, what an interesting start to this one, thanks for all the brilliant reports tsmoha!
Let's start from the beginning - quite disappointed Mullen couldn't get into the U25 jersey after the prologue, he seems to be a perennial underachiever. Penasa/Valls lost time, but that was to be expected. Time trials have never been our forte, maybe we'll phase out that contingent next year...Congrats to Eden on the maiden victory for Keizer - he's looking to be a very solid addition to an already very strong roster.
Stage 2 was solid enough - staying in the leading group and Penasa in particular looks to be in great shape. I have a feeling Valls is being slightly leaned upon by the young Italian throughout the race, so by the time the end of a stage comes, Penasa's got his acceleration ready to kick, but Valls is pooped. Anyway, congrats to Bikex and Denifl, as well as Marco and Uran for popping into the GC lead.
Stage 3 - wow! Simply, some of the riders falling off the back were unexpected, to say the least. Not that we're complaining, significantly moving up in the GC, and now have 4 in the top 25! Eyob in 2nd in the U25 competition is great to see as our refugee representative, getting some airtime for the plight of his people, and 2nd in the teams competition is a nice bonus, after Banco de Bogata, no less. Hopefully Valls/Penasa can stay consistent over the tough 2 stages coming (MT/TT) and can both pop into the Top 10. I'd be thrilled with a steady result like that.
Congrats to whitejersey on the opening win in the PCT?! A good way to bounce back after a rough opening start to the season

Stage would have been perfect if just for a little detail. Novak losing 2 minutes
Rodriguez going for the KoM as Roson did it's good, though ideally Roson would have attacked again today and get the jersey
Happy to see Ndayisenga taking the U25 lead. I can't see him losing it now, and if Roson and Dunbar can stay in the Top8 and give us a few more points, it would be awesome.
Hopefully we can be in the breakaway in the flat stage too, and see if it has a chance to fight for the win ahead of the bunch
Great win for WJ! And great report tsmoha!

Ganna as third best team rider and at s.t. with Borisavljevic would be amazing under almost all circumstances, but probably less so when it means a total collapse for all GC chances for Euskaltel, with VDB and Nazaret even further behind.
His prologue was pretty good, third best U25 rider as my hope was, while the mountain stage surely gave no reason to waste all energy.

Rodrigues lost just to much time in this stage. He is out of it... But I'm surprised by Sepulveda. ITT is still before us and he is 6th in GC. And only one mountainous stage left. It is really promising for the next stages. Parra Bustamente is also not that far behind. 1st in team classification? Am I dreaming? |

Great top2 here. Always nice to see former riders doing well.
Keizer with a good stage and still on a perfect position. |

Congrats to WJ on the win! Was surprised during transfers that you got Villela so easily Nice to see him deliver a result like this.
About as perfect a ride as could be asked for from Keizer. I was expecting at least a max. of 1m30s timeloss he’d have to make up for in the ITT. Worried about the TT now with Pcm’s TT AI
Also surprised to see Uran losing out so badly here - he’s the GC rider I though would survive this stage the easiest.
Thanks for the report!

Awesome win WJ, that hilly depth may pay off after all
I was preety nervous, Kiserlovski was always hidden in the final Kms, it would be gut-wrenching if he had lost time, but a sight of the results sheet calmed me down
Good for us, seizing the hills to put time on some important riders, heartfelt for Minions speccialy.. Who would've predicted that..

hmmm... not been the most decisive of stages so far which makes me worried a little about the last stage, we're going to need time on the others to stay in the top 10 GC I think which we wont get if it stays like this... :/
I'll take a stage win in the TT though and Meintjes to blow up the last stage as well, but we'll have to wait and see to see if that happens!

Looks like the TT is going to have to do the work to decide the race since the first and likely harder mountain stage didn't really have much affect. Eastman is in a reasonable spot after Keough completely failed on the prologue.

Nothing interesting to say after 4th stage. At least Losch tried anything in the final sprint. Waiting for the ITT. I hope for a good stage for us! |

Perfect for Nepomnyachsniy so far. Also fun to see Golovash trying to get in a mass sprint.

Another good stage. Rodriguez again in the break and taking some great points that puts him up to second in KoM. Not so far from Nakane, but if both go in the final stage breakaway, Nakane will beat Rodriguez because he's just much better at climbing. Anyone, if i can get 2 Top4 in KoM from the race, it would be great.
Anyway, i love that we are showing a lot the jersey in home roads
Congrats to jandal for the win!

One screen Manarelli is at the very front and the next he's totally disappeared as if a spectating magician practised his vanishing act. That's why I have more confidence in Drapac for the actual flat races than him.
