20/20 hindsight should've taken Úran here. Let's see which rider will benefit the most from this weaker startlist.

A big chance for my former riders Denifl, Henao Montoya and König to get top results for their teams in this startlist. Also looking forward to see Kulhavy in action as my amateur leader, probably won't hear about him in report at all, but who cares, should be fun.
Also this race looks really interesting both profile wise and location wise, what a nice idea to have a race on this African island.

Expecting nothing here. Could've sent Pluchkin, but I avoided all C1 shit with him

Surprised their are so few PCT teams and recognised mountain dominators in attendance here. Gives the CT teams who have taken a chance in travelling here an opportunity for a decent points haul. With both Berhane and Ji listed in the top 10 contenders, really hope that both manage a good points score between them. Would be delighted to see Berhane reflect his stats and fight for a top 5 position. Assuming that the parcours and final long climb in particular will prove decisive, as a relatively large group finish here would be a disappointment from a wider racing perspective.

Well I'm delighted with the startlist, Kiserlovski may have a chance to finish on the Top5 if he has a good day but I'm not expecting that.. Will be nice to measure him against a PCT contingent, and of course that I'll be seeing if he distances Konig and Anacona

Hopefully Choi can take a Top 5 here, although based on where he actually should finish a Top 10 is more likely. Anything more than Top 5 though would definitely be a great result.

Originally was meant to be sending Monsalve here, but miscalculated his RDs when planning - so Carthy is here instead. Top 10 should be the realistic goal, but considering our performance in Apex I dare to dream of maybe pushing for a top 5. Should be a very open race behind Denifl, Henao and Kudus (plus maybe Berhane). |

Holy crap I'm glad I had clashes into order to race here. Massively strong line up where we would have put out a b team at best.
Best of luck to everyone

Not too unhappy with that result. A little disappointed that Nazaret didn't manage to finish in the Top 5 after his earlier attack but his lowish Stamina stat likely saw him run himself into the ground early on. Not the worst start to the season for him but would like to see him improve as the season goes on.
Thanks for the report as always, followed the action nicely.

Couldn't have asked for a better start by Henao! This was probably his best chance to win a race, talking even this early on, and he delivered perfectly. 15th for Pantano is very good as well. Rounds out a good start to the season
Thanks for the report roturn. Great as always

Looked like a really fun race, and the pre-race favorite won in the end. Surprisingly (for me at least) good result for Denifl. It seems like the diesel-engines will do better this year than last year

So the big guns fought for the primes, no real surprise to see Henao taking the victory eventually. Denifl with a nice comeback though, I guess he can't be unhappy with a runner-up here. Not too impressed with the performances of our former riders, had hoped for Bennett to show something more (even though he's indeed better suited to other, more MO/HI races): or did his manager tell him to show, that he does NOT belong to a bigger team?
Thanks for the report and congrats to all, who did well here!

Hoping for a nice showing from Bennett - certainly, I'll be disappointed if he can't beat Velits' attempt in Canada!
Okay, so... he got the same
Not a good race for us here - wishing I swapped Bennett and Velits as I might have planned, but thought both could do better than that. RES hurt Bennett big-time methinks. Not a 0-pointer I guess with Gilanipoor in 21st too, but not good at all. A bad start for us.
And no Schomber finish
On the bright side... Henao Great to see him delivering as he should!

I think you and roturn are conspiring with these bad mountain performances we are doing, to make me sell all climbers, so you can have a Bennett bidding war! I don't need him to show he doesn't belong to you too - he knows he belongs in the silver fern on a Kiwi team
Don't have many MO/HI classics in my schedule for him I guess, but hopefully Portugal, Eritrea, Japan and others see some joy for him in that department. Starting soon at ToME

Dominant win from Henao and a strong showing from Denifl after some strange team tactics earlier on. Congrats to Phillips, a very good win!
Brenes phoning it in for another top-10 after Apex. A pretty decent performance from him after initial worry about the length of the race and his stamina.
Thanks for the report!

Great race for the team to bounce back from a disappointing Apex
A podium for Kudus was the goal, and he got a third place. A shame that Denifl won the sprint for second after Kudus was exhausted. Didn't expect him to stay with Henao for so long, but after being so close for our first win. i have a little feeling of anger
Ndayisenga is 11th is perfect. He's a great domestique but getting results for himself is going to be hard with those weak back-ups, and despite working in the early part of the climb together with Novak, who got minor points too in 22nd, he was strong enough to follow some wheels until the end and get interesting points for the team
Thanks for the report roturn and congrats to Abhishek for the win!

At least I scored some points here. Not so many, but If I'm not wrong, with 3 riders. Decent start. But as didn't know what to expect I'll take that result as a decent. I know they could be a bit better. Especially Rodrigues who seemed to be in the favourites group for some time before Denifl made his move. And that could be even top 10 result in that field.
Thanks for the report, and congrats to the winner. Which was no surprise |

Had hoped for König to finish a couple of spots higher, but this was the race all season I expected the least from him so that's ok. It's points at least...
Thanks for a nice report.
Edit: Looks like though that he's riding in the main jersey in stead of his NC?

Will be changed in future races, much like for Bennett here I guess it was just raced before it was uploaded

All jerseys uploaded at the same time though.
Mainly commented on it since he isn't even racing the default NC but the teams main jersey, so it could be a DB error I guess.

He definitely is wearing it in later races. Can`t say right now if it was wrong format, too late for January or anything else? |
