I agree with roturn. I didnt expect Brandt to be picked over Sane but i can understand it.
To add to the reasons roturn listed:
Reus, Draxler and Sane are more natural on the left side while Müller and Brandt are more natural on the right side. While all of them are versatile this is another argument that could have been a factor.

England's results are similar to Switzerland in the last couple of EC/WC's. And with the squad they have atm I cannot see a reason why they will be overhyped yet again. A QF would be a success for England.

Iceland wins.
I think Japan will be the surprise of the tournament and make it to the quarter finals, don't know why I feel that, but I do.
Would love it if Croatia met Avin's expectations though.

For me it's a stupid decision to sack a coach the day before the World Cup starts, being a coach that has been with the team for the whole Qualification process since last Euro, and that build a team that has the chance to win a World Cup.
There's a new president of the Spanish Football Federation, and he was offended and wanted to show that he's in charge sacking Lopetegui
Now, the new coach will be Fernando Hierro, who was in the staff of Spanish team until now, and former Malaga coach. Now i don't have to much trust that Spain will go past 1/8 round. but we will see. The game vs Portugal on Friday will be key to determine how much this has affected the team

The 48 team format for 2026 is stupid. The 48 teams bit is bad if understandable, but the way they’ve done the format: two teams getting out of a three team group, meaning you need penalty shootouts after a draw in the group stage - is farcical.
Anyway, now I’ve seethed about that, sacking Lopetegui was unbelievable. Especially since the Real players clearly got him the Real job, therefore they have no inclination to work for Hierro because the person they want has gone. Opens up the group for Morocco or Iran, I think.

Well 3 teams from 1 region have to automatically qualify so it kind of had to be done this way to be fair.

But they only gave the World Cup to Mexico and Canada as well as the US because of the 48 team format. If it was still 32 teams it would probably have been the US on its own.
Anyway, promise I’ll stop myself from mentioning that again.

This performance only justify IMHO that Asia can't have 4 teams instead of giving another shot to teams from Europe.
The quality is just shit and most folks like to see the best teams. OK Italy and Holland was fairly beaten by Sweden, but still the quality of the World Cup as a whole will diminish even further if Asian and Central America gets more teams in the future.
If they do get a second qualify game like Peru vs New Zealand then they can justify they are worthy of getting to the World Cup Finals.
The standard of the finals have already sunk with this mass amount of teams.
