RCS | Race Company Simulator - Designing Races
Aquarius97
Company Name: Organizacion Deportiva Aquarius
Company Nationality: Spain
Initial Race Region: Canary Island

After an incredible effort looking for the company name, focusing over anything else in originality, the company that will be known here also as ODA, begins his "reign"

It's yet to be known if the first race created by ODA will be a one-day race, a stage-race, but rumours talks about Teide being climbed in any of the possible race formats

Aquarius, Head Director of ODA: "We know that since a few years ago, several top riders come here to do training camps for their GT preparations. So we came up with the idea of creating a race where those riders could compete while not affecting their training camps.

The long-term project is to have a one-week stage race with several mountain stages, which would be a WT race, and several one-day races in the style of Mallorca Challenge, which would be either .HC or .1 races. The one-day races would be placed in the start of the season, so teams can come here for both races and training camps, while the stage race would be put in a part of the season where top riders would come to this race thinking of it as a season goal"

I can easily create a route but i don't know how to convert/work with DEM. Doing something like for example creating a route (for example on google maps, GPSies, Strava, etc) and ask for help to somebody to help with it viable?
Or any easier ways I can do the full work, I don't mind doing it I just don't have the knowledge for it

I think trek will make routes in PCM if you submit it to him Smile

So just generally on the route submissions, all I need is a link to the map of the race and if you have any extra details you can tell me them. The map can be made on any route plotting site (plotaroute & La Flamme Rouge are best imo, but others like Strava, etc. are perfectly fine).

As for DEM files, they are region files that are require for you to make routes in certain areas, PCM only has files for certain regions, which you can see in the map on this post in Le Gruppetto:

https://legruppet...60#p482160

Every race made so far are in supported regions so that should be fine, only for hillis certain parts of Norway don't have files.

---

Also, I've made the decision to give a special reduction of stage fees for stage races in the first season only, the fee per stage >40km will be 500 and the fee per stage <40km will be 250, only for stage races and only for the first season, just because I worry it may be stupidly difficult to create a stage race otherwise. I'm worried the exact meaning of the sponsor values isn't as clear as it could be, so here's exactly what they mean:

Nationalism: How well the region/country important to the sponsor performs in the race. Smaller regions also get more benefit from a weaker result.

Let's say you had a race sponsored by a company with a focus on the Champagne - Ardennes Region. If a rider from that region won the race, they'd be very happy, they'd also be pretty happy if French riders from other regions do well and have a high presense in the top 10. Though they expect a lot from French riders, so it'd be a disapointment if French riders do badly.

However, if you have a Finland, there aren't many good riders from there (well, Veikkenan was the best but he retired Sad) so they don't expect nearly as much, so a bad performance from Finland would be less of a disapointment, but a Finn in the top 10, or even on the podium would make them pretty ecstatic and they might be a little happy to see other Scandinavians or Baltics do okay in the absence of Finns.

Race Quality: This is the most subjective of a subjective list, but pretty much I'll give the race a score for how exciting it was and how good the racing is, however, different terrains are rated differently, a stage race is generally rated favourably, while a flat classic that ends in a sprint won't be rated badly just because there were no attacks. On the other hand a mountain race which is exciting will score highly, while one where team Sky trains and nobody attacks will score badly.

Startlist Quality: This is the popularity of riders you attract to the race, regardless of nation, if you get Peter Sagan or Chris Froome to your .2 race, or even a WT rider or well-known PCT rider, your sponsors will be smiling pretty broadly, especially if they are visible in the race.

BlueAir Turul al Romaniei Presentation

Please note the organizers still have to decide on which exact dates this race will be held.

Stage 1: Brasov - Brasov
dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/6jofq3x2xqhb9yd/1.png

Stage 1 will feature the beautiful city of Brasov which was founded in the 13th century and is located in central Romania, in the most southern part of Transylvania. The city is best known for its gothical styled Black Church. The church got its name from a fire in the 1689, leaving its walls charred in the colour black. Whilst the stage itself is rated flat, the riders won't have an easy start to the race as we immediatly leave the city to go into the hills surrounding Brasov, to eventually return to the city where the riders will find a very nasty small bump just before the finish. Sprinters may be the obvious pick here, however a couragious rider may certainly stand a chance here.
upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/c/ca/Biserica_Neagra%2C_Brasov%2C_Romania.jpg/1280px-Biserica_Neagra%2C_Brasov%2C_Romania.jpg

Stage 2: Brasov - Pitesti
dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/q5yfbnn5xoj763c/2.png

The second stage will take the riders to Pitesti, an old city south of Brasov. The city has a dubious place in history due the so-called Pitesti-experiment. Communist general Ghioghiu-Dej locked political prisonors in the local prison, in which they were encouraged to murder eachother to reeductate themselves. The stage itself is made for sprinters, however any rider who fancies wearing a jersey could decide to attack on this stage to collect a good number of KoM-points.
db4sgowjqfwig.cloudfront.net/campaigns/125841/assets/580706/Pitesti.jpg

Stage 3: Mioveni - Cartisoara
dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/ayxq27h3mjg3qct/3.png

The riders will have to cross the Carpathian Mountains at some point, and what better way to do that than using the Best Driving Road in the World? That's right, the riders will tackle the insane Transfagarasan Highway to get from the south part of the Carpatians to the north, finishing in Cartisoara. The highway was build under the regime of Nicolae Ceausescu, and is a whopping 90 kilometres long. The riders will go between the highest mountain peaks in all of Romania, the Moldoveanu and the Negoiu. The road climbs to altitudes over 2000 metres, making this a climb very much comparable with the more known HC climbs from the Tour de France.
upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/c/cd/Wide_view_over_the_northern_Transfagarasan.jpg/1280px-Wide_view_over_the_northern_Transfagarasan.jpg

Stage 4: Cartisoara - Lacul Balea
dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/4cslppp2k4k8w3h/4.png

As if the previous stage was not enough already, the riders will have to back up the northern slopes of the Transfagarasan Highway for stage 4, a long uphill MTT. The route is 29 kilometres long, 27.2 of which form the actual climb. The gradients average at 5,5%, but the riders will encounter peaks of up to 15% at some sections. Most certainly a stage for those who like to climb, a huge suffering for anyone else.upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/b/b3/BaleaLac4.jpg/1280px-BaleaLac4.jpg

Stage 5: Avrig - Jidostina
dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/vptz415ab3p7dzd/5.png

Stage 5 will take the peloton into the Alba County, more specific to Jidostina, a place where apart from a few local farmers, no one actualy lives. The stage takes the riders east, to the town of Sugag from where the final climb will start with some easy gradients. It is when the riders make a left turn when the road really starts to go up. This section is not yet asphalted, but work should start on it pretty soon, creating a new climb, which is 5kms long, with gradients far above 10% average.s-ec.bstatic.com/images/hotel/max1280x900/110/110283309.jpg

Stage 6: Sebes - Sibiu
dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/h6w27z912908zd0/6.png

For the final, rather short stage, the riders will head to the medieval city of Sibiu with the finish being in the historic centre of the town. Of course the riders won't have an easy last day though, the route could have been much more straight forward, however the organizers felt the need to include some difficulties for the riders on this final stage, to potentially shake up the GC a bit on the final day. The stage should still favour sprinters, however they most certainly will be tired at the end of this, potentially creating a very unpredictable final sprint in which anyone may win.

Sorry, that may not have been clear enough.

Pretty much, every sponsor offer for your first race will be 25,000 and 5 Popularity, however, the +s and -s will alter your budget and popularity every season and you can see how much they change it per division on the costs sheet. I've automatically shown how they will affect your budget this season in your sponsor offer.

So if you receive + Budget, - Popularity, your race in .2 will get + 2,500 to your budget and -2 to your Popularity, so that offer will give you 27,500 Budget and a popularity of 3 in your first season.

And we can change sponsors in each season? Or the sponsor we choose at the beggining is staying with us forever?

They're permanent, along with all the clauses you agree to, though each sponsor only belongs to one race.
