Sagan becomes the rider with the most wins in the history of Gent-Wevelgem, tying Merckx, Van Looy, Van Eenaeme, Cipollini and Boonen, while also being the one with most podiums of those 6 riders, having finished in the podium of the race 6 times since 2012

This race is just made for Sagan, it's not hard enough to drop him somewhere and after 250 his sprint is incredible. Silly tactics by Quick Step in my opinion, Viviani isn't that fast after a 250km race.
Van Aert confirming and Roompot with a very exciting ride. Looking forward to the Ronde.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Wasn't as exciting as I expected but it was a good race.. I do understand Quicksteps tactics I don't blame them, Viviani had to start his sprint late due to his position (he's the one to blame for that tho). Sagan seems to finally be realizing how to win in the cobbles, he has to play defensive and trust his team.
Big up for Rompoot, GVA wasn't surprising (he's not that great of a sprinter), Kristoff needs to gain some balls and position himself well, Sep rode well but it just wasn't hard enough for him (keeping a serious eye on him for Flandres)

Yep, problem of recent years was he did not have a team to speak of. Now he has, so he can use it. Anyway, powerful sprint after hard race, hardly to be beaten in such a situation. Quickstep played it wrong, happy to see Peter celebrating another G-W win, great, now onto the big ones.

Sagan was on point, but I have to agree with Avin. Having Oss and especially Mr. Burghardt, who in latter phase of the race could be seen lecturing his leader about doing turns while he should be saving himself, make him much more resistant to QST antics.
Quick-Step though was very disorganized. With Viviani in such form they should imo have protected him more. Both Stybar and Gilbert will face better chances in the next weekends. It was close for them, but the team work wasn't there.

Burghardt was telling Sagan to stop pulling so much and wait for the sprint.

Gent Wevelgem is only the beginning, he showed on Ventoux when the going gets tough he's better than Sagan so expect big things for him in De Ronde and Roubaix

Burghardt is amazing, have liked him 10 years. He’s results are not what he deserves.
He was even promising climber once. German power house.
Sagan is lucky to have him. And Marcus is lucky to have Sagan |

Hehehe, I have to admit that was a respect + for me. I think Cofidis and Bouhanni are finished, Laporte would make a good team leader.

Laporte has a thing for gifting Demare a space on the podium it seems.
He's getting closer and closer to just taking the win though, sickness pulled him out of Kuurne and Omloop, MSR he had a broken wheel and still 13th, just off the podium now. RVV and Roubaix, we're waiting.
Also, class by him giving Moscon the dose of karma he deserves!

Nibbles will ride RVV this year. Nice to see him there. He will be a rider to watch. |

Viviani was faster than Sagan, but Sagan much better placed going in to the sprint. Vivian was fast, but I agree Etixx should have tried with other riders and just let Viviano do his thing.
Im not convinced by Sagan, I still think is endurance is overrated and when races get REAL tough, he has a habit of crumbling. The two really hard races this year he has been nowhere (E-3 and Strade), he has one or two surges in him, but mano a mano in real classic style racing he seems to be on a lower level than last year. Thats also how he has won all his World titles, one surge, or one sprint (all 3 titles won after 'easy' races). |

Good to see Degenkolb riding in a front group again. Didn't really feature that much so far, hopefully he can contend in Roubaix
