Team Croatia
is that name even appropriate with those riders?
1. | | Warren Barguil | 26 | Fortuneo - Oscaro | 790 | Climber | 2. | | Lilian Calmejane | 25 | Direct Energie | 894 | Puncheur | 3. | | David Gaudu | 21 | FDJ | 352 | Climber | 4. | | Sören Kragh Andersen | 23 | Team Sunweb | 478 | Powerhouse | 5. | | Luke Durbridge | 26 | Mitchelton - Scott | 484 | Powerhouse | 6. | | Danny van Poppel | 24 | LottoNL - Jumbo | 287 | Sprinter | 7. | | Sebastien Reichenbach | 28 | FDJ | 234 | Climber | 8. | | Diego Rosa | 28 | Team Sky | 209 | Puncheur | 9. | | Remi Cavagna | 22 | Quick Step Floors | 281 | Powerhouse | 10. | | Neilson Powless | 21 | LottoNL - Jumbo | 216 | Stage Racer | 11. | | Marko Kump | 29 | CCC Sprandi - Polkowice | 238 | Sprinter | 12. | | Kristian Sbaragli | 27 | Israel Cycling Academy | 172 | Sprinter | 13. | | Peter Kennaugh | 28 | Bora - Hansgrohe | 137 | Stage Racer | 14. | | Tanel Kangert | 30 | Astana Team | 58 | Stage Racer |
Picks 1, 5, 6, 9, 10 to me this time. We continued our high risk high reward strategy, going for different picks.
Powless is a great talent. Shifting to WT he could either bust by being a helper all season, or have a break out on WT with performances according to his potential with early leadership, especially in the American races.
Kump is, who would have guessed, a pick I could not come around this early. He should be a lead sprinter for CCC, and with the potential he showed in WT he could crack it in PCT.
Sbargali shows the same story. Difficult year in 2017, but the potential is there. Maybe he can fullfill it back in PCT with Israel Cycling Academy, potentially at the Giro 2018.
Kennaugh never got the chance to ride according to his potential, as he was part of the Sky train. The team change to Bora-Hansgrohe may lead him into breaking out of that issues.
Kangert. My favourite rider. I had to go for him, even though he is a steal this late in my opinion. Almost didn't score, due to being helper and injured. But then, he left the Giro late in the race as 7th. With better luck he could massively turn the season around in 2018.
Awesome Round
Hindley, Planckaert, Ciccone, Gougeard and Stannard are the riders, in that row, that I would have liked but missed out on due to teams picking them before.

Kangert was a bust for me last year when I picked him in first or second round iirc. Hence didn`t want him again. Not even this late but Powless and Sbaragli were high on my list and could have ended with me if you didn`t pick both just ahead of me.
First was already one of the very best talents and imo Lotto NL is a great spot for him as he surely has less helper tasks as with almost all other WT teams.
Sbaragli as well could work well with his team change. Big potential, great allround and surely one, who is having a better season next year I think. |

Likely 1 more round to fill ~24 riders for each team. |

Awesome, though I'd love to propose 30 riders (to give some opportunities for some very high risk picks late)

Yeah of course there is a certain questionmark over Kangert, but I like him too much to not take the chance. I agree on Powless and Sbaragli.

4 riders I got were in my top 10 picks this time, quite fortunate since I didn't do much research before these rounds
Disappointed to just miss out on Howson and Sbaragli, but getting Chernetskiy back is a nice bit of continuity for my team.

Barely had enough time for this round to make a list, honestly just pleasantly surprised my short list was enough and quite happy with my picks given the circumstances.
Planckaert had a massive 1000+ point season in 2016 PCT and a more reasonable one with Katusha this year, definitely a rider with a lot of potential upside for a big season though.
Cerny, Van Gestel and Touze are all talents who are sticking with their 2017 teams, so will be interesting to see if they can build on their 2017 to have a better season.
And finally De Bie, who scored 460 and 350 in 2015 and 2016 respectively had a really weak season this year and drops down to PCT with Vérandas Willems, surely worth a shot for at the very least emulating his 15/16 form.
As always some cool riders signed, Croatia had an amazing round with his picks, all awesome for this stage. Also love Paterski's signing by Abhishek, Enger as well for Matt as a 0 pointer (x infinity on the overperformers )

Another round that I'm happy with. Of course it's with a pretty big element of risk with Betancur. But on the other hand, if he's close to what he once was capable of, he's a steal. Fingers crossed that's the Betancur we'll see in 2018, eventhough it's not contract year!
Not sure at all about Filosi in a French team, but I'm happy to give it a go. Must say it slightly surprised me that I wasn't able to get Holst Enger in this draft, a pity matt thinks that highly of him, as he really should be able to be close to his 2016 level of performance, as a minimum.
Overall it makes my team look like this:
1 | Gianni Moscon | 2 | Wout Poels | 3 | Silvan Dillier | 4 | Ben Hermans | 5 | Nathan Haas | 6 | Lars Boom | 7 | Jhonatan Restrepo | 8 | Simone Consonni | 9 | Amund Grøndahl Jansen | 10 | Pello Bilbao | 11 | Carlos Betancur | 12 | Patrick Bevin | 13 | Jose Goncalves | 14 | Iuri Filosi |

Let`s hope he finds another step forward after his "breakthrough" year. Looked really promising last seson even though not having leadership for many races. |

I think the final 4-5 picks are enough for some really high risk ones, often already those late picks throw up some pretty random riders.
