Race Profile

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/profiles/pt/pt_cdh.png

The premier ITT event for the PT season is here. Most of the leading TT riders are here and it will be a close fought race for the finish. At >48 km, there is a very small chance of anyone who is not TT specialist to take the win here.

pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/fes.png Coppel, Fiedler (Porto - Prio) and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/rbc.png Phinney are the top favourites for the win. It is very difficult to separate them in terms of TT ability.

The next set of contenders are Zmorka (Porto - Prio), pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/aeg.png Keizer, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/jay.png Durbridge and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/fes.png Vlatos. They are quite capable of winning this themselves.

pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/npn.png Ford and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/vsa.png Kittel also possess the TT ability to make a mark. Their lower RES stat may hurt them over the long distance.

I will put my money on pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/pum.png Sutterlin and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/tsa.png Yatsevich pulling off a surprise result. Maybe not a win, but a top 5 could be possible for them.

The remaining contenders are mentioned in the table above.

One of our key races of the season. We need a podium and a top 10.

Coppel have the best (IMO) skillset, but very rarely beats Phinney (especially) and Fiedler in the longer TTs. Vlatos can go anywhere from 5-15th

Hard to say who the best time trialist is at Tinkoff at the moment, just hope at least two of them have a good daily form.

Am kinda interested in seeing how my recently maxed youngsters can compare to the PT top. Golovash and Kochetkov Both are not top quality, but on a good day Golovash may do well, just like he did in Qatar. Fat old Gruzdev Will do nothing though....

On a side note, can we please slow things down just a bit? I genuinly am struggling to keep up....

We should try to kick off this month with a good result. Obviously, it's all about daily form. Please, Durbo, please do better than your Qatar outing.

viking90
Haugard just outside the favorite list I guess, so a Top 20 should be doable.

Time to pray to the daily form gods.

Hoping for Sütterlin to crack the Top 10 here after a disappointing Qatar, or at least ending up not far away from them. We can use any points on Aker and Evonik that we can get.

Will be interesting to see what Ford pulls off here. With the PCM AI he'll probably end up either winning or about 30th.

I'd love to win this, but would rather have Zmorka and Fiedler in the top5 if the choice was given to me.

Although it wouldn't hurt to get both of those goals simultaneosly Pfft

In all these years of MG I don't remember anyone ever asking the reporters to slow down the cadence of races. This just shows the amazing work you guys have been doing since the start of the season! Thanks to all of you guys!

That said, I wouldn't mind inserting one or two days of respite now and again too Pfft

I think this is, by far, the best season in the history of the game. Smooth delivery, quality reports. I would be sad to see it slow down again.

Phinney to win this one please Grin I'm super confident with him only losing one Flat TT the last Season now and I fully expect another win here!

trekbmc
A bit of fun and a bit of XP grabbing for us. Pfft The most important goal is to crush Evonik, especially to prove that we are the superior Latvian representatives with Kanepejs. Pfft

Otherwise Bernas also misses out on Bongo to get some important experience and Pedersen gets a taste of PT racing. Smile

Thanks for the preview Abhishek, looking forward to the race! Smile

It's one of those races with no expectations, simply because we don't have a time trialist. Hopefully we can get some historical points for bringing Cancellara Smile

Coppel must be the obvious favourite, but he should be challenged by especially Fiedler. Then there's Phinney too, but looking at previous racing, Coppel often seems to get the better of the American.

If you're talking in a season long perspective here, I can assure you that you've got nothing to fear from my team, seeing how Beltran insists underperforming. It means we're left with a decent cobbler, and at best average sprinters and stage racers Pfft Would have needed an average puncheur in that mix to challenge for a top 6. As the season has started, I'll be very, very happy if we can break into the top 10, but around 12th-15th feels more likely.

Looking forward to the report!

If you look at last season I Think it's 3/1 Phinney and 2/2 Fiedler.

I dont remember Fiedler beating Phinney, so I have the american as the major favorite. Didn't he also win last year?

Yeah the only time Coppel beat Phinney in this version of PCM is Tour de France Prologue last year I think it's 5-1 including the Worlds this last year both in the Czech race and the last tdf TT

ember
Ah, right. I got it the other way around for some reason. Then Phinney obviously has to be the favourite Pfft

DubbelDekker
If those slight bumps in the profile play a role, we might get a top 10 here. Otherwise I don't expect much.

You're clearly setting yourself some pretty high goals. I'll follow the trend and dare to say: My goal is to get a top 150 finish here.

This is so bad I could cry.. Durbridge with another bad day in a key stage/race. His result is a joke for our expectations here. I can hardly remember an ITT in which we overperformed or at least perform on par with our expectations. The new month starts as bad as the last went. Now to fail at Pais Vasco, and I will cry like they do at Isostar.

Porto though.. congrats to all who did better than they had hoped for. And thanks for the report.
