I made a survey for a project on Daily, would be a lot of help if people could fill it in - the main point is to get a varied list of cyclists names. It's got a ton of questions but you can fill in as little number of questions as you want as long as you remember to submit it.

We managed to extract a regens file from Football Manager, and converted it successfully for PCM. It will be included in the Expansion Pack.

So, Uber is being 'banned' in London. And instantly my facebook was inundated with various friends moaning about all sorts of things (government intervention in the free market (apparently i have strong communist friends), backwards views on tech, regulators not understanding the market place, cost vs black cabs etc.). It's an interesting move from TfL (Transport for London) and Uber's biggest legal challenge yet.
I don't like Uber. I think it's run poorly at a high executive level, and has serious structural issues around who and how it employs and pays. Certainly when compared to something like the Black Cab, which has a very high barrier to entry for good reason.
But my number 1 point of laughter at my friends was their arguments over cost. I had to point out how cheap the Tube was. Or heaven forbid a bicycle or walking.
Good riddance to Uber. But i'm sure they'll be back after appeal.

If ever there was a good time for Lyft (or other similar platforms) to expand to the UK it's now!
Although i'd still get a Black Cab every time i needed a taxi in London.

This may sound like a weird question and most of you here may not know the answer, but how did PCM.Daily ever get started and become popular?
The reason I ask is because I have just started my own sports blog and forum website, and am in the beginning stages of getting the word out and trying to get Facebook page likes as well as members on my site. I only have 4 members after a few days, and I am one of them
Just trying to gather some info from sites that are already up and running.

A blog is a bit different from a forum. You can't really compare that.
Basically, what your blog needs to be is:
Interesting
One of a kind(something, which didn't exist in that form yet)
funny
present in Social Media
interactive
https://geek.hell...
This guy I know is really a nice bloke, maybe you can ask him for advice. He's pretty intelligent as well.

Pretty sure it was because PCM needed an english speaking community, being the major reason. There was already a decent sized community of english speakers on the PCM french forums, so the ones from there just moved over I imagine.

Its a blog but ALSO a forum
www.sportsactivenews.com
I'm just trying to find the right way to find the people that would be interested in this kind of thing. Mass commenting on ESPN & NFL, etc. post on Facebook doesn't seem to be working the way I thought it would.
I managed to find a list of 100,000 USA registered active e-mail addresses and I am going to send a massive e-mail out saying that you have been selected to join and test run a new site. Hoping I can at least grab enough to have a base to start from.

Pretty sure you just admitted to becoming the spam everyone hates.

Couple of things.
1) The look of the site is rather amateur. I know you are, but when you're competing against established sites run by major companies it stands out more and will turn people off.
It works well enough functionally, but the visuals aren't great. (the really pixelated espn ncaa image is just horrible). There's no fludity to anything, it's all rather basic. And you've got a lot of distracting empty space on the front page.
2) You're competing in a crowded market with some very well established competitors. Either long running blogs with loyal readers, or major news sites with insider information and access, or well built communities with loyal members.
It's gonna be a long process to build up a userbase. I'd suggest focusing on the blog side of things, that'll be the best way to generate views and followers.
For example: I'm a regular visitor to nfl.com. You don't offer me newer or better news. You don't offer me an active forum or membership in comparision to say forum.nfluk.com.
So why would i come to your site? Answer: for a unique personal input, a blog

I don't exactly know how to fill those empty spaces without it looking too crowded. I've been looking at https://deadspin.com/ and they also have some empty space.
I also am NOT trying to offer any news I am only running blogs and forums and that is it. I am not sure what you mean by fluidity. If you could link me to an example site to give me a better understanding that would be nice. This project is just getting started and will eventually look better with time. It took awhile to get the coding down for the forum and blog first.
Appreciate the input

The difference between deadspin (great example) and yours is the color scheme. Dead space is fine, but you've got a clash of yellow and that blue design. It's distracting and just looks off. Whereas deadspin has a simpler cleaner style that goes neatly across the whole page, so the eye doesn't get drawn to the blank areas but to the articles themselves.
The reference to espn and nfl as sites made me think news & results, and not so much opinion blogs.
If you want an example of a good blog, can't go wrong with inrng! A very fluid site. All the colors go together. It's all neatly ordered. Very tidy. The whole blog feels clean and professional and expert, right from the moment you click on it.
