Adrien Costa really cant get back on a bike quickly enough for USA to have a rider to hype up once TVG is gone.

That's unexpected, wish him a great life now that his cycling career, at least as a pro, has ended. Wonder what might have given, the uncertain future of cannondale? With his win at Dauphine, he definitely achieved somethign I will always remember, what a stage race that was. He has been proper fun to follow throughout the years.

I'm just so taken back I have no words. I understand there was uncertainty with Garmin likely gone and having a poor TDF, but he's 28 and finished in the top 5 of the Vuelta last season! It just doesn't make sense to me. I'm at a loss.

Talansky has a young family and at 28 he's still young enough to change career direction and build for the future , also he might have lost interest in the grind that being a pro cyclist can be, training almost every day and traveling all the time sounds pretty tiring to me and if it becomes just another boring job then why keep doing it? Of course this is all speculation on my behalf but it does make sense to me to call it quits at 28.

It is weird one. We should thanks for that also probably Cannondale team collapse.
Also team has been like regular french team, who has wasted so many possible future great hope riders.

Depends from what point of view you look at it (ethical wise).

Obviously nobody knows if Team A acts better than Team B. But there surely are examples of teams I wouldn`t really argue about their ethical way" of progression while at other teams I might actually believe they are riding a lot "cleaner.

That actually said, riders like Formolo, Villella, Bettiol!, recently Dombrowski even progressed decently with them. Not too bad at least.
Dan Martin also was fine with them before making the next step.

Regarding Talansky in especially. I can totally understand him. Yes a great rider, great charakter imo, still too young normally to retire. But then again he is in a age to think about what to do after the pro life. Also having a young family he surely wants to see his children growing up more than 2-3 months a year and then lots of living from your backpack only off your family. This comes even more as US rider with racing being mainly in Europe. Much easier for Europeans being closer to your family all year.

Ollfardh
I must agree with Roturn, even a rider like Tom Boonen who rarely raced more than 100km away from his house (slightly exaggerated, I know) says he's now very happy to finaly spend the needed time with his kids.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Kalach
Unexpected from Talansky but yeah the reasons which mentioned @roturn and @Strydz are pretty reasonable. Its understandable. And If you realize that it is not worth of all that sacrifices........
Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.

Like most American riders riding for American teams, Talansky is probably being overpaid.
He probably knows Cannondale are finishing and doesn't have the motivation to ride for half the wages somewhere else.

I guess he doesn't truly love the Sport and sees it as a profession. I guess he doesn't think the traveling and training is worth it for the lesser contract he will most likely get at a European team.

Other than all the reasons, personal and family related of course, in a professional level i think his motivation has taken several blows.

He is from America and was labeled "America's great hope" and "the next American Tour de France winner" and that within an American team, the pressure on him as tremedously high in 2014 (when he was 25). That TDF was an enormous blow he crashed time and time again whilst being a contender.

But I think there's something more to it, he must have some health problem, or knee or back issues.. he has a good level but he constantly underperforms and those good results are the glimpses of him at a 100%, but they are rare. I'm sure he has something constantly holding him back for several years now and it must also take a huge blow.

And finally he is in a team that doesn't offer him a guarrantee to employ him (at some points).. i recall this isn't the first time Cannondale is at risk of disbanding and that's more wood to add to the fire.
He feels he's done his job, and if Cannondale do continue they have at least one rider to hand in the results he could, he wasn't the team leader anymore.

Anyway he was a rider I enjoyed a lot watching race, and I was always hopeful of seeing him at top level, I wish him the best of luck and I hope he finds hapiness somewhere else other than professional cycling.

And the Continental US teams are nowhere near the level of an even average PCT team like Fortuneo or Androni. The only reason why American CT are applying for PCT license is to gain Tour of California wildcards - nothing more, nothing less

Both Rally and Jelly Belly rode California though. It certainly would help with wildcards but the new UCI rules allow a scenario where CT teams ride a WT race.
