Not to mention the different use of mountain and hill stat would completely mess up the database.

And the fact that PCM16 has no backwards compatability with stages from PCM14 or earlier (which still bumms me).
Off topic: Are the stages in the MG converted to PCM15/16? Because I want to add some races in the 2017 DB like San Marino Classic, Tour of Bulgaria etc.

no, it wouldn't, but that is a different point - sadly PCM15 is the much better fit in terms of compatibility and stuff, which is why PCM15 is the correct decision (in my eyes) for almost all factors but gameplay
