I love Sagan but what he did was wrong, I think if he doesnt put his elbow out he gets away with it. 100% DQ.

Cav is 100% at fault here himself.

Funnily enough, the elbow has nothing to do with the crash though.

Intent though, he didnt need to have his elbow out, so if Cav had survived the initial contact he would have been brought down by the elbow, even so it a was a bit of dangerous side from Sagan, he got a careless

DQ or not, Cav on Veelers on 2013 looks a lot more faulty, and nothing happened

The same thing? What same thing? He didn't do anything wrong today.

This reminds of a football match where a whole team runs after the referee to influence his decision. |

Wow. I get the sprint penalties and stuff but I didn't think they'd send him home for that. They've allowed worse in the past.
Regardless, looks like we'll finally have a new green jersey.

Intent to stay upright imo.
We all seem to forget this happened in some hundredths of a second. The "I don't want to crash" reflex is much quicker than the "I want you to crash" thought.

Dimension Data complained again after the first penalty and Sagan has been DQ.
Remember, the same Dimension Data which is an official sponsor of the race

A penalty would've been acceptable, but sending him home is complete bullshit. For example: Cavendish - Veelers accident in 2013, Cavendish drove him off his bike and the jury said it was Veelers own fault. Besides, Sagan has barely done something wrong in races, while Cavendish is a bomb who drives half the peloton off its bike.

10.1.Deviating from selected lane, endangering
other riders
1st offence: relegation to the last place in his group, point
classification penalty equal to the points awarded to the first
place of the stage, 200 + 30’’ in general class.
2nd offence: relegation to last place in the stage, point
classification penalty equal to the points awarded to the first
place of the stage, 200 + 1’ in general class.
3rd offence: elimination + 200
So they found 3 offences at once?

I am surprised that they actually disqualified Sagan, especially as I also think that this was an overreaction. I think he should be punished, but that is too harsh.
I'm not one of he conspiracionists who think they only disqualified him because Demare wears green now, but looks good for him now - and bad for the ASO that it looks like that.

Cavendish made the initial contact with his head on Sagan's hip, trying to force a non-eexistant gap. Cav and Sagan both lose balance, Sagan puts out his elbow and knee, Cav finds the barrier. No contact after the first made by Cavenshit. Cavenshit should be penalized for endangering Degenkolb and Swift (and all others).
