Not sure that Landa has really more potential then Aru, he is one year older, and a bit weaker in TT skills. And Aru has already a GT in his records
age does not mean anything. Yes Landa is not much TT'r. But he can be really kick ass climber, with great style. Aru will be always dropped when GT leaders gonna go full gas uphill. |

Rumour of the day: According to L'Équipe Chris Froome wants to leave Sky for BMC. Sounds like BS to me, but thought it was worth a mention

He wants Porte back and TVG in slavery...
Dumoulin is big news - maybe the start of long contracts for top class riders and thus "real transfers" with fees like in football f.e.

It could seem quite feasible though. Back to Porte and Roche who were previously at Sky, plus TVG is rumoured to be leaving at the end of the season. With all the shit Sky are in at the moment he'd probably like to move away and save his image.

While we're at it, another transfer rumour: to replace Kristoff (who is supposedly going to Astana), Katusha is after Kittel

Katusha and Kittel would be great.
A win-win situation. For Katusha and Quickstep. Katusha would get Kittel, who's an amazing sprinter, Gaviria woiuld get more possibilites to shine and it would free up alot of money for QST to go after some new signing.

You really think Porte would want to go back to slaving away for Froome (or anyone else)? This rumour is just that, a rumour.

TVG leaving would be pretty good for both him and BMC. He needs a change of scenery, too little pressure there with him being sole american top rider. But I think they are actually happy with him winning a stage at the Giro so maybe he'll get a pay cut and he takes that and he can refocus himself on stage races and/or stage hunting.

Doubt it. Teams are a lot more stable in football, in cycling teams come and go all the time, since they are funded by sponsors, rather than by their stadium and local fans attendance like in football. I mean im pretty sure it can and still will happen at some point, but I dont think there will ever be a situation where its like football and teams buy and sell a bunch of people in the transfer window for large sums.
I think teams probably pay a buy-out clause if they want to sign a rider still under contract with a team, but in a lot of cases that might be all they pay.

It's just been announced that 20 year old Australian climber Cyrus Monk will join Cannondale as a stagiaire for the second half of the season, he comes through the Drapac Pat's Veg Devo team. Been following him for a while now and has a ton of potential. His first race will be the Tour of Britain.

Some Movistar rumors:
Landa and Roson are apparently joining, while Castroviejo is going to Sky.

Promising guy indeed. Happy to see him taking that opportunity. A few talented young Aussies around.

Landa seems not to be happy at Sky, at least he doesn't express his potential so far, Movistar can be a great solution for him

My 3 favourites on the same team, yeeees, Mikel.
And Jaime as well, with Carapaz and Soler developing, now they only need Bernal, but looks like Skyt will get him. |
