WOW, I dont think anyone can beat Dumoulin. Movistar will need huge team attack on Mortirolo/Stelvio stage. Because now Quintana needs 3mnin plus 2 mins for final TT.
Also I feel if Quintana does not win Giro than there is no point going to TdF and finish 2nd to Froome. He should rest up and try to win Vuelta.

Well let's not forget that it was a rather short flat stage
with a rather short climb at the finish.

Let's see how Dumo fares when the climbing begins right at the start.

Don't get me wrong I'd really like him do win the Giro.

But all that Quintana bashing seems a bit premature.

Giro is ofc far from over. This kinda stages suit TomDum pretty good, remember the stage he won against Froome in la Vuelta. Still, his performance really makes me hopeful that the third week will be legendary. I just hope that he doesn't get too much screwed over by his weak team.

Imo way more initiative and resolute than Evans.

I wouldn't get too high on Dumoulin just yet. These kind of grinders up a climb favor him, but when you get into the high mountain stages of the third week, I still wouldn't be surprised if he falters.

Dumoulin could have gained more, if he hadn't asked Zakarin to do some work right after his counter attack. Zakarin couldn't do anything and Quintana came back I mean, what was he expecting, if you can go just go and don't ask Zakarin to do work having just gained 5 meters

Some people havn't watched this stage in 2014? and then act surprised when a big guy puts time into midgets in the last 300m. No way in hell was Dumoulin gonna win if the finish was paved in tarmac

With today's win, Tom Dumoulin has won a mountain finish and a long TT in all three GT.

Dumoulin's effort on an easy stage finishing on a relatively short climbs is immense, thats no secret. Won a similar stage in La Vuelta where he was in worse shape than now.

Quintana did the only thing he can do, attack. It failed this time, worked on Blockhaus.. which is a climb much better for Quintana, way harder than Oropa.

Still, today doesn't change much in the overall picture - Nairo (and Nibali) need to go long in order to win the race in the high mountain stages, particularly stage 16 to Bormio. Its where they can abuse his team, isolate him the way Astana did in 2015. We sill don't know his real level on those days. Exciting times.

Well, Quintana only won like that in Blockhaus, because Dumoulin didn't know the climb well enough. He said that himself. If he would've known it better, he would've ridden with Quintana.

Thats a bit easy to say, but he was obviously very strong. Stating that as a fact is probably wrong.

But again, thats a mono climb stage. Lets see what happen when we have proper mountain stages with many climbs throughout the day, thats a, as I said, very very different animal to just one FTP-type effort on one climb.

Anyways, Quintana and Nibali are renowned for the 3rd week recovery, probably the two best in the world along with Kruijswijk. They are both best on multi mountain stages in the end of a GT. Both of them are still within an reasonable distance, Quintana has the best team, Nibali is a born attacker...

Yes, its gonna be great. Bormio has the potential to be a legendary stage - 220 km over Mortirolo and double Stelvio. Perfect scenario. Cool

amazing tom dumolin.....

I know that nairo is very good at the 3rd week, but remember....the last day is a time-trial...so I think that quintana need more than 1,30. So he need to reduce the 2.47 and he need to increase the gap to almost 1,30 to have a little possibilities to win because the time trial it´s flat so i think dumoulin can make a gap of 2min with quintana.
in my opionion there are less than a 20% of possibilitys to quintana.
I think taht quitana is very overrated because he never do something important, In teh last vuelta contador was injured and froome very tired because of the tour, and nairo in the 2014 giro he was alone because the 2nd in that giro was uran....hahaha
