Eh, PCM 14 has an even huger FCD db with like 200 teams or something, but I played FCD in both editions and the DB for PCM 13 was definitely better from a stats and attention to details point of view. Still fun to play tho.
I would gladly play either, cuz I plan to go over stats myself and add some young riders, but the download links for both dbs are down (afaik) which means I need something else
Edit: Got PCM 13 and FCD 2014 db to transfer so I should be all good, actually.

ANZAC Day today (25/4/17), remembering all of the Aus/NZ soldiers that gave their lives during wartime. This song has always resounded with me: Greatest 'anti-war song' ever

I made a survey for a project on Daily, would be a lot of help if people could fill it in - the main point is to get a varied list of cyclists names. It's got a ton of questions but you can fill in as little number of questions as you want as long as you remember to submit it.

Name a rider with a really Long name.
Answer: Ji Long
Name a rider with a short name.
Answer: Ji Long
Worst part: it's actually Jin Long. Should do my research... |

Hello everyone, guys!
I guess that, this being my 11th post this year, you've noticed I have kind of left the forum. I wanted to come here to write a "last" post, like a goodbye, or maybe a see you later.
Almost 4 years since I registered here, and although I have had a lot of bad moments with some users from in here, I would say I have had fun in general. I've met a lot of people with whom I've shared my passion for cycling, and more lately for shirtmaking (something I've also abandoned).
Although I still consciently like cycling, I haven't seen much lately, and I could say that my interest is kind of gone (maybe for some time). That happens to me with PCM and shirtmaking as well.
So yeah, I wanted to wish you all good luck and the best in your lives. You deserve it. Thanks for supporting me for years, and sorry for my inmature behaviour.
See you guys!

couldn't be bothered to find the Athletics thread
So, what do people think about European Athletics suggestion to wipe all pre-05 event records?
If you don't know, the European Athletic Association is proposing that all World Records set before 2005 be rewritten.
They want WR's to only be recognised if:
It was achieved at a competition on a list of approved international events where the highest standards of officiating and technical equipment can be guaranteed;
The athlete had been subject to an agreed number of doping control tests in the months leading up to it;
The doping control sample taken after the record was stored and available for re-testing for 10 years.
The IAAF has only stored samples from 2005 onwards, and even then not for every single event since then.
Thus passing the proposal would clear all World Records pre-2005, which would include: The '95 Triple Jump by Jonathon Edwards, Womens Marathon by Paul Radcliffe, Womens 100m and 200m by Flo Jo, The '91 Long Jump by Mike Powell, The '96 Javelin by Jan Zelezny, Mens 5k by Kenenis Bekele and more.
In cycling we've seen something similar with the UCI wiping the Armstrong Tour years, but imagine if they came out and said all races pre-Puerto (for example) would be declared "non-cannon" so to speak?
I think it's a f*cking idiotic idea, one of the most stupid i've ever heard in sport. But i've got a couple of friends that think it does restory credibility in records. Wondered what Daily might think on the subject?

What are the arguments for this?
To me it seems silly. The rules are fine, but why use them retrospectively? History is history, and I doubt it would change anyone's perspective on the sport as it is now. If they want to remove records of the past, at least prove that the athletes were doped. If there's no evidence, there's nothing wrong to be proven, and they're not guilty.
Like you say, f*cking idiotic idea. |
