37Martijn KeizerAegon - Lavazza+ 8'31

Pretty much why I was sending you here...
Even got support in Olivier, who was even worse.

Groenewegen, Sbaragli, Bovenhuis DNF also add to it as it`s a great start into a race.

Well that was nothing. I hope that frees up one of them for a breakaway attempt.

Upsides are the DNFs and that the Top 10 mainly consists of teams we don't care about in the rankings.

There go my sprinters Sad

I guess this was quite a good stage for Henao and Brambilla given the opposition.

Decent from Velits. Really, really bad from Spilak. Pfft

Nice! That's the kind of strong Madrazo performance I was hoping for. One could argue that this was nothing special for a 85 climber, but this season riders like Alarcon and Taaramae have regularly beaten him. So it's good to gain time on them.

Congrats SotD!

15th from Guldhammer is decent, nothing special, but not bad. Hopefully he can keep it up. And judging by that first stage, all we can hope for is consistency from Guldhammer, as Galta doesn't seem to keen to join the early breakaway, unfortunately.

Thank you for the report, roturn. Can imagine the frustration seeing Keizer being one of the major loosers. Spilak and I-Gen - Festina at the other end, congratulations, SotD!

You shitbag Dombo.

Interesting to see gaps this big in a stage that wasn't all that hard. We had smaller ones in the 3 GTs after longer and harder stages.

The stage was harder than most stages of any GT I guess. Pfft

Both mountains were really steep.

I blame the profile for fooling me Pfft How long was that final red and black section approximately?

The very final black piece towards the finish 1,8km.
About the same for those "red" part before.

Whole climb probably about 18km or something with the final 12km being really steep.

2 stages into the race and I haven't commented yet

As in basically every mountain race I come here without expectations. All I can hope for are top 40 gc results, KoM hunting or break apperances.

However, I have brought Dzamastagic as my sole sprinter as I feel that he can do well against a rather weak competition and I especially hoped that he can perform on stage 4 as he can climb a lot better than most other sprinters I could expect here.

Stage 1 was okay. 8th is pretty much exactly where Dzamastagic is what else in this field although that off brings few points only.

Stage two was great the to the number of DNF. Tzortzakis (82 SP/79 ACC, +44' on stage two), Porsev (79/80, + 55' ), Chen (79/78, +55'), Lay (79/81, +55') are the only 78+ sprinters and with most of them barely staying inside the time limit (some might miss it on stage 3, others will be too exhausted) I feel as if Dzamastagic (76/78, +22') has great chances to score a top 3 on stage 4.
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

Thanks a lot you guys. Spilaks just second win of the season, that is nice. Now it is exciting to see if he plays it more aggressive than the Tour de France, or if he sites behind Novak and Campero and drops down. I hope this combination is the correct one to win a GC race.

Tzortzakis among the few sprinters left should, on paper, be a good thing, but it is not. The fewer sprinters the less of a chance for a dprint to actually occur. My bet is that a breakaway will take stage 4. I doubt Tzortzakis will even still be in the race by then anyway.

Weak performance by Kritskiy, but Porsev still in the race!

That totally made up for stage 2! Dropping Spilak and Tenorio, WHAAAT?! This really seemed like a TdF stage. Must've been +5.

Because of yesterday, it doesn't really amount to a big GC leap, but it feels awesome.
Now for the flat stage, my hopes have become true and there aren't any major sprinters around anymore. Now get a good position Nikias and surprise everyone from the slipstream!

(still mad that Aegon and BPost are again schooling us how to breakaway...)

Did not happen a lot this season for me though.

Keizer in TdF 3rd week and now here after his huge loss in stage 2 was absolutely needed though and make up for a rather anonymous racing in many other races.

So apparently Keizer can only perform once he has lost time, which is obviously not ideal when then having lost the GC already.

Wow, that's just a massive surprise, and not a pleasant one! With such a terrible stage from Guldhammer, all our hopes of scoring any proper points here are completely gone. Just bad.

Interesting turn of events at the front, with some sensational rides from Cattaneo and Arndt. But congratulations on the win, Crommy. Super impressive by Taaramäe to win with such competition, and the GC is suddenly wide open again.

SotD
Spilak definately not a trustworthy leader. He is all over the place. 10th here is pathetic really, with team mate Campero only losing 2 minutes on him.

Taaramäe on the other hand is Mr. Consistent himself. If only Spilak would ride like that.

Unfortunately, but expectedly, Georgos Tzortzakis aswell as every other sprinter lost his way here. I guess we will see a breakaway rider take the win. Having lost the jersey now I can only hope to see riders like Kastrantas, Eibegger or Le Gac in the attack. It would be very nice to see Eibegger in a move as he was very aggressive last season.

Congrats to Bouygues and Gazelle for a massive stage securing atleast a podium each. Condolences to Aker though for that horrible Guldhammer performance. He is usually the one to perform atleast to his level, but here he is just way down. Let's hope to see him attack on stage 5 and 6.
