Thanks for the great reports Tamijo.
A good opening to the race for us. Ponzi has been well-placed in the sprints, meaning although he couldn't keep with Trofimov he's highly placed in the GC on countback. Hopefully he can make a further move upwards on the following hilly stages. |

Wow another stage win for Trofimov, but being in the lead often means defensive riding, so stage 6 and 7 will be really interesting to watch, far from over!

Finally! Feels like the game made up for us not forming any trains here or in the TdF by now giving us the only train in the sprint
I guess it was a slightly unstable train which led to Degenkolb and Holloway getting enough of a gap for the latter, but I'm happy with second place and the overall effort after the distaster in the first 3 stages.
Next season, Lander will have gained those valuable +2 SP that could've made the difference here. But will we even ride for Ciolek then? ...
Congrats to Smowz, if there's somebody I don't mind as much losing to it is you, maybe this helps you fighting against relegation. I would be happy to see you around again next season.

Van Stayen might score a lot more than anticipated now that he is even leading, incredible race for him, though I reckon he won't make it past the next stage with the yellow on his shoulders.
Congrats FroomeDog btw, always nice to see Ponzi perform great. Hope he can outdo himself in the next stage

Great ride again by Pichon and the team since we are 4th in the team classification shame about Houle's crash but can't have all good luck |

Decent by De Bie but hopefully he can gap some others as I am hoping for 2-3 positions higher actually. In especially with Swift failing hugely here.
Van Stayen...just wow. While the next stage looks hardest, the yellow jersey might help him to stay in contact. |

Well that wasn't good in the end. We got Kelderman into a great position and he just didn't have the legs. Disappointing, but there's still time to climb a couple spots tomorrow. I hope those 17 seconds lost won't matter too much.
Felline in 13th looks good until you realize tomorrow's stage probably has some mountain factor which will render him useless.

Happy with Koretzky's performance here. He unfortunately lost a bit too much on the first stage to get a good result here, but alteast he showed here that he can perform to a top 10 result. The next stage is looking difficult aswell, and may chance things a bit. Let's see...

Howard, no words... failing again and again. And sometimes makes a suprising comeback.
On the other way Sagan doing quite decently. Need better results from him here though.

Congratulations, FroomeDog99! Very deserved win on a stage that looked to suit Ponzi perfect. On his day, no one can challenge his brutal acceleration.
Looking at Boasson Hagen, it just isn't fun anymore to watch him struggle in PT hilly races. I convince myself to think there's always another chance with a new race, but he just can't prove it. Super frustrating!
And thank you for the report, Tamijo! Incredibly nice of you to do this from the "outside" |

Wow. This looks way too perfect right now. I'm too scared to post any expectation before the last stages but I certainly couldnt expect such a huge GC chance when deciding on the gamble to not send Skujins here. So much anticipation for the last parts....
Great reports! Thanks a lot !
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

Indeed great reports and congratulations to Ponzi. It might be a smart move to "give away" the lead, hopefully Trofimov can take it back tomorrow, but it's still a close fight, many favorites are still in it to win it!

He is just unhappy to be forced to stay - Perhaps it is time for Spilak to return to Aker, and for Hagen to try something new, lets say... French?

This has been a very exciting stage race as a whole, assuming the podium won't change tomorrow! In the end, the final result is pretty fair and reflects what we've seen both this season and in this race, with Trofimov and Ponzi being visibly the best 2 puncheurs.
In the end, they'll score a close amount of points between each other as Ponzi has more stage wins and better placements in Points and KoM, so congrats Oleg and Froomey! Thanks as always for the great reports to Tamijo, very good stuff.

Well, that's a completely failed goal. No reason why Kelderman shouldn't have been in that first group.
At least we'll win a jersey and Felline overperformed, but that's a whole lot of budget money we lost here, not even to mention ranking points.

A race I had hopes to be one of the best scoring wise all season, is going to be one of the lowest.
De Bie always a bit beyond expectations and surely being beaten by 2-3 weaker riders. But with Swift also failing big time, this race here is not a big scorer and hence the direct opponents Puma, Aker, Evonik are likely to have a gap after this race.
Not even a stage win by Swift tomorrow (not happening of course) can make this race a decent one. |

Can't complain with that result. Koretzky sprinting cleverly and gaining a little bit here and there. Too bad he lost that minute on the first try, otherwise it would have been a very good GC from him.
But so far we are happy with the result. 9th from Koretzky is a bit better than anticipated, and with Tom David, Charalampas Kastrantas and Olivier Le Gac all in top 40 (for now) we get a little bit of extra points there.
After a couple of difficult stages I suspect that Tzortzakis won't be a good bet for the final stage. Perhaps riders like Van der Lijke, Holloway, Roelandts can mix it up with Degenkolb, Swift and van Stayen here after 7 stages with a bit of ups and downs. Maybe even the top puncheurs will give it a go.
