Cunego and Konovalovas did well, but I fear van der Hugenhaben may have this in the bag if he doesn't do anything stupid. Also a shame Scarponi lost time, he could've done well in the GC as well, top 10 would probably be out of reach now.

Valls doing well to finish in the 'leading' group having found himself in a poor position early in the stage. Disappointing that Izagirre abandoned the race. Hoping for breakaway attempts from my riders.

shame for Slagter but In-n-Out with a much needed victory there with Hugenhaben, congrats maxime...

At least Schelling showed himself there, although it would have been better to save that energy and finish with the big group. Oh well.

Though I'm not 100% sold vdH has it in the bag, that was an impressive step towards a potential victory. Dude's as inconsistent as it gets but when he's on a good day his hi-mo combo can be quite deadly! Congrats maxime.

I set the bet to expire one day later than it was supposed to be, you can bet again now

So relieved Cataldo made it back. Hope he has still enough in the tank for Mt Fuji. A performance similar to last years is needed to keep his chances alive.
Pity what happened to Slagter. Hugo Boss seems not to be favoured by fate these days in Japan.

Wow certainly didn't expect that with all the terrible results RVH has had this year

Definitely agree! It's nice to see a flash of that hill-mountain we brought him in for! |

There goes any podium hope with Ji being caught behind. Looks like it will be stage hunting from here on out. Shame.

Othman now has a 16 point lead with 30 to play for (unless there is some for the TT) so it's looking good for him to take the KOM jersey home with us.
This race is kind to us every year as it's one we consistently get a nice result at year after year and it looks like this is how we benefit from it this season.

Sorry for that, hope you can make up for it
That said, wow that was some huuuge splits between the pure climbers and the climby puncheurs!
Didn't think Ricco could give that much time to Bibby and vdH at this point, but he wasn't even the only one to climb positions. Close call for Cunego, but it's going to be a good points haul for all teams in the top 5 anyway, as well as making the next stage even more exciting with more than 5 riders still capable of winning the GC.
Congrats aidan, some great planning definitely improved your top 10 chances.

Nice, another top-5 Bit of a shame Rodrigues lost so much time in the hilly stage though, otherwise he'd be doing even better than 10th now. It's a matter of keeping that top-10, maybe even pick up a stage win.

Close between Ricco and Cunego now
Am actually quite happy the Africans are leading, their team seems more suiting to lead the racing tomorrow, and hopefully Cunego can profit from their work and take the few seconds he needs. Controlling a flat stage is something my team should be able to do

Kiserlovski disappointing as usual. I don't know how often he was beaten by our former rider Rodrigues this season already.. |

Not the outstanding TT like last year from Cataldo, but still a good one. If he can stay with the big ones for one more day it'll be his best GC-result of the season.

I feel horrible for being happy now... I would've loved to see what the gap between Ricco and Cunego really would've been, could've been so much more interesting. That said though, I am genuinly happy to be this close to my first ever GC win, and quite honestly, it would not be totally undeserved either. We still have to defend this position though, and with Randrianambinina also home now, that's not as easy as it may seem.
