No, you said outdoor sporting events. Beach volleyball, waterskiing, wakeboarding, etc.

No, you said outdoor sporting events. Beach volleyball, waterskiing, wakeboarding, etc.
Oh. What I meant was that if a country is too hot to naturally grow grass, it's sure as hell going to be too hot to hold competitive sporting events.
Obviously there may be exceptions, like water sports. But 99% of outdoor sports will be unsuitable for Qatar. Especially cycling 250km.

I heard in german TV today, that they'll probably cut the race down to 106 KM. If that's really the case, Kittel should have this in the bag. Or Cav.

Does the UK have 9 riders? You can shut down a 106 KM race with 9 riders, and Germany will probably add a few as well. Maybe even France will settle for a controled race.

Yeah, GB have a full team I think. Although Cavendish has been saying he's ill. Not sure if that's a bit of psychology or not. If he can recreate his TdF form he will be hard to beat with a full team behind him.

But as far as I did read, the 106ish km will be ridden, if it's hotter than 40°C.

106.4km would come from cutting the 150km countryside run-in to the main area of the worlds. For other events it woul be about reducing laps.
Not only would the actual shorter distance changed things, but putting more emphasis on the twisty nature of the laps would also change things given the vastly increased number of riders making it the laps.
