Vuelta á Espana 2016

Btw. If tommorow becomes a GT clash for the stage win as well, Quintana might take the points jersey from Valverde Pfft

EDIT: Froome also has a change to take the points jersey if he finishes before Quintana

With Michel ''Sean Yates'' Wuyts? Oh well, at least it's better than José Been Pfft

All tv reporter have favorite, in Denmark it is all Contador and Tinkoff , for some obscure reason they think it is a Danish team, even if it has not been for Years.

Today reporter said Contador was riding to win the Vuelta Rolling Eyes

That Been / Traksel combo from the Dutch Eurosport? Yes, I definitely prefer Wuyts / De Cauwer over them every single time. Their chauvinism is so damn annoying, it comes close to the guys from the French Eurosport. Too bad Wuyts is a big Froome fan as well

@Selwink 'Sean Yates'?? Enlighten me please Pfft

Froome was exceptional today, no one had really expected this kind off performance, apart from you I guess. Quintana was on par, Contador slightly below par, but Froome's performance was otherworldly and honestly makes you wonder.

Wonder what? The same thing we've all been wondering since 2011? That perhaps it was a pretty medicore TT field and Froome was the favorite anyway?

Wonder that he definitely didn't look good on stage 15 and his form seemed to have hit a plateau, yet, he was able to pull this off. Did you expect this Indurain-esque performance? It was remarkable, all things considered (Tour, Olympics etc). Definitely one of the best performances of this entire year, yet, it won't be perceived as strong or 'mutant' if you'd like as some of his other performances such as Ax-3 2013, MV 2013 or PSM 2015.

Indurain-esque? Really? He only gained a few more seconds over Quintana than he did in the Tour's first ITT. Yes i did expect a Froome win, because he's a pretty damn great time trialist in pretty good form (you don't ride 2nd in a GT like this one without being in shape) and against mediocre competition. Nothing at all out of the ordinary today and even his season is far from monsterous compared to several riders recent seasons.

Yeah, Indurain-esque all things considered - gotta put things into perspective. He did almost put 2 minutes into his his closest GC-rival (Talansky, 1.54 and Contador, 1.57) after winning the Tour comfortably, riding the Olympics, then presumably coming into the Vuelta 'undercooked' on JUST 37 km. This isn't 70 km in Luxembourg in absolute peak, Froome 2013 Saint-Michel style, but a rather underwhelming version of Froome compared to what we see in July.
We also got to appreciate that the level of form was hugely different in TdF between Quintana and Froome. Quintana was absolute lacklustre throughout and still 'only' lost 2 minutes - this Vuelta, Quintana has had the upper hand, yet, lost the same despite doing a reasonably good ITT.

I still maintain this is one of the absolute best performances this year and definitely Froome's best performance (again, considering everything).

Wow Froome put a couple of minutes into Quintana, no massive surprise in that but in the end it doesn't change the end result and Quintana still wins this Vuelta......

Quintana will still hold easily. Contador will have to hope not to crack tomorrow but I think he has enough time for the podium.

And yes! Talansky put in another great ride today and slips into the top 5. I bet most people didn't see that coming. I really hope he can hold it to Yates tomorrow.

Contador himself probably couldn't care less about podiuming yet another GT, if he has the legs he'll go all in full stop.

Probably true but everyone can see he has no chance at that.

Yeah, like he did in Tour de France 2013. Wink

I think we are glorifying him too much here. If what many say are true, that he does not care about a GT podium, then you would expect NOTHING less than an all out attack before Aitana on Sky/Movistar. I really, really doubt we will see that. Chances are it will be somewhat half-arsed once he realises chances are pretty low, but can say he at least tried which many of his die hard fans will cling on to. Pfft
