Great Ocean Road Classic
On the MG calendar since 2013, the Great Ocean Road Classic closes the first month racing, with some of the best sprinters of the CT division.
After 5 laps around the city of Port Campbell, the peloton, composed of "only" 120 this year, will probably go at a very high pace until the finish line, placed in Warrnambool. In 3 editions, we saw 2 bunch sprints, but also one breakaway win. The reigning champion, Richeze, went to PCT so he won't defend his title.
| 1st | 2nd | 3rd | 2013 | Bennati | Boonen | Goss | 2014 | Sirironnachai | De Winde | Paiani | 2015 | Richeze | Corioni | Sulzberger |
There's a lot of possible winners for the first sprint race for CT. The bookmakers have made Matt Rowe their favourite. Brammeier, Corti and Murray are here to help him. Then comes MOL – OVM Petrom on the startlist. They have 5 superb sprinters, but it looks like they'll focus for Ben King today. also have a top sprinter with Ricki Nelson, and a lot of helpers : Thomas, Alaphilippe, Ewan, Soupe… The malaysians of Sauber can expect a result on this race with Awang, Salleh and Manan. Mezgec, Nizzolo, Manarelli, Vanderaerden, Rizza, Von Hoff, Guillen… The sprinters' density is huge, a lot of riders can take the win today.
Who is supposed to lead each team ? Check it down here !

I kind of regret missing this band with the team I have now, especially considering how few teams are in it, but I'll be satisfied watching from the sidelines.

I wonder how the game made Manarelli team leader instead of Drapac who is riding his home race here and has an higher SP stat and average. Anyway I have confidence in both to get a great result!

Going to be a tricky one this with its length just going to nudge on a few riders stamana perhaps? So perhaps Guillen (who also lacks a bit of general road skills) could be knocked out, difficult to tell. The wind really ripped it apart last year, though the riders ranking in top four or five are usually protected from this it can lead to trouble chasing things down so a surprise rouler win is not out of the question either.
I have this feeling on Nizzolo.

My feeling says that Mezgec could do something great here, Drucker could be helpful in those last kms. |

would love that...hope for a train with Drucker & Papok to be pretty strong, especially as the Flat stat could be pretty weightful for the 3rd man in a leadout...or Timmer the joker does a big one, the perfect breakaway joker in my eyes

Well, WCC the only outfit without a sprinter. I originally had Brenton Jones down in the first draft of the season schedule, but had to free up a couple of RD's to give him enough days to do ToA later in season. If I'd had more time to think things through I'd probably have realised that this race is in an underpopulated race band, and he might actually have done OK here. This race was a 0 points scored disaster for Nutresa in 2014, so i think there are some psychological scars here!
Hence we have gone for the hail-mary and are praying for strong wind out on the course - that would be Goodnews for Bush and Clifford!

I hope we get a train here as we've got strong enough riders for one and seeing as they are all from the same nation there shouldn't be any communication issues.
Seeing as my third leadout man's sprint stat is better than 5 team leaders I think we should have a good chance of that, and if not then hopefully it means that we could see all 3 guys in and around the sprint and others trains regardless but I don't have much hope of that happening.
Hopefully enough teams see a sprint as a good thing to chase down any break as with so few teams there is a risk that the amount of teams represented in the break and not wanting to chase would be a fairly high percentage and a bit of a stumbling block. I have brought some guys to go for a break if that happens but I think Salleh would be too much of a favourite to mean they get away unless they are there to not work and disrupt the break.

would surprise me if a train of yours could be successful with that flat stats, for me your sprinters (especially Salleh) are a danger if they jump from backwheels

for us also good to see that neither Hankook nor Kraftwerk or Carlsberg are in the mix, 3 teams with very good endurance sprinters...

Come on, Hoff!
@Scorchio: Probably wouldn't have expected Jones to score here either. Looking at the startlist, it's a shame though
