Pretty stupid what Froome did on that downhill. He could have lost the Tour de France and for what?

He did nothing wrong..classic front wheel slipping at wet surface

He had taken an advantage over the rest of the pack meaning he was taking some kind risks. He could have take it easily and be more safe.

It is always good to be at the front.
a) Avoiding being dropped
b) When you are not descent ace
c) avoid stupid crash front of you

Maybe he just didn't want someone in front of him so that no one can fall in front of him.

Well Bardet went out and gave it a good go earning his spot on the podium, unlike Astana were they sat on the front all day and Aru couldn't deliver, even when they had Froome on the ropes.

Tomorrow the weather forecast is thunderstorms, maybe somebody (Bardet please) is willing to give it ago before the potentially wet descent of Joux Plane, anything could happen.

What do you do if you're Bardet now? there's surely no way you can get back 4 minutes for the win, surely you just cover attacks. I think the last climb tomorrow will be total fireworks as its still far too close to call for the podium.

Brilliant from Bardet, the guy has guts and that counts for a lot. Aru and Astana did at least destroy mochema.

Brilliant ride on the climb by Froome on Thomas bike, he would have possibly won on his own bike.

Yates gutsy but in the end the follower nudged off of podium should make him hungry... I prefer Chaves out of two Orica guys, Yates surely wasting energy sitting at back like that.

Bad luck for Nibali there, always a risk riding behind froome though
which definetely ruined astanas plan a little, wonder if they are gonna bother again tomorow or let nibali or rosa go in the break

Quick thinking and great descending from bardet got him the win here! Way2ride

Last Friday of the Tour, same day it went wrong during the Giro for the Dutchies. Mollema now 10th in GC, damn... Well if the organisation is fair they should give Mollema the same time as Froome now. Pfft Nah, just kidding, but it's a pity he loses so much time this way. And Dumoulin abandon is pretty fucked up as well. Let's hope he doesn't have too much damage.

Quintana close to his second place now!

I think Bardet will win 2016 TdF in 4 years time when Froome comes clean.

I think Froome / Sky will help Porte to get up on the podium today.

How considerate of them Pfft

On a serious note, my prediction for today is attacks from Aru, Bardet and Porte. They're the only ones who look capable of getting away from the Sky train at the moment, and I don't think Froome is overly worried about their progress. Also think Mollema will likely lose one or even two positions today. He looked to be struggling yesterday. Nairo and Yates to take up the podium spots after today, not necessarily in that order (I'd be happy if Mollema proves me wrong, coz it's about time he got on the podium in a GT)

Edit: And Arberg, I don't disagree with you entirely...

Not too bad a prediction then. Pity I missed the stage today Frown

can we ban the last friday of an GT? or officially change Mollema's first name to Jauke, or Dumoulin's to Jom? maybe even Kruijswijk's to Jteven? although they still wouldn't be from Holland.

at this point I count myself as a bigger GT favorite than either of those guys, I have the Janssen/Zoetemelk requirement Grin

Spoiler
Janssen/Zoetemelk requirement:
#2 first name must start with a J
#1 be from South-Holland

Mollema, Dumoulin and Kruijswijk are from Groningen, Limburg and North-Brabant respectively

Costa tried Sad

Once more, so close, yet so far...

Finally Froome looked human. Only took 20 stages this year...

To this point, strategy for tomorrow will be quite intriguing. I think the biggest question mark is how does Froome recover tonight. He was obviously labouring up the climb to Bettex. Adrenaline is a tricky thing. Immediately it helped him stay in contact, and even hold on. After a shower and the nights rest though...could be interesting. It's not entirely impossible that Froome could struggle with the early offerings of a team decides it's worth going after.

Bardet and Quintana both have the luxury of marking, but with a downhill finish, if Romain is still attached to the lead group I can't see him not making a dig on the downhill. I'd be surprised if we don't see SOMETHING from Porte -- although after today I'm not sure what's left in his tank. Same goes for Yates, seems like he's just hanging on at this point. Aru has the team around him to get time back, but he's going to have to launch from a good ways out to make up the time he needs to get to the podium.

I think it has the makings of a classic Tour penultimate stage, if a couple of scenarios come to fruition. Or it could be a complete snoozer if those chasing the podium are out of gas and everyone is content. Fingers crossed for some action though!

Best one so far. Entertaining. Attacking. Crashing. Failing (Gotta watch those Aru "attacks"!! Hilarious.).

Deserving rider won. Deserving riders crashed.

Could be worse, could be Frisians!!!

Really feel bad for Dumoulin. We need him for Rio.
Clean fracture of the radius. 2 weeks cast and turbo trainer?
Doubt it. Royal ef-up.

Spoiler
Now prolly some all season no-show does a Kryryianiyakya or whatever that cheats name is. Or worse, the cheat incarnated himself wins.

Anyhow. Let's hope for rain on the last downhill to Morzine!
Nibs still wants his stage win after all.

Riis123
To see Valverde and Rodriguez the strongest of the favourites... the heck?

Hoping for some good racing tomorrow. Today was decent, I guess, but nothing to write home about really. The drama again provoked by crashes like on Ventoux. Pretty cheap
