Did Quintana steal your girlfriend or something? Had to have done something to you personally for you to keep going on about him, or his it that you have a secret man crush on him and you are feeling a little confused? Just embrace it, no judgements here Wink

No, he just thinks that Nairo got overhyped, just like I do.

After winning Catalunya and Romandie this year in the wake of his climbing in 2015 in the Alps, the 'hype' was completely justified. Whether its bad prep, illness or whatever has happened, we don't know, but Quintana is a top-tier GC rider who just had a bad race. It happens.

Or he is early career blossomer, it happens.

Apart from this Tour, there is nothing suggesting he is an early blossomer. He has had his best spring so far, but for whatever reason, he lacks something here. Says its allergies and hopes for rainy days

I know, i am not writing him off, but of course he blossomed early, being top GT contender since 22-23 years old. I did not mean he is done, but that we have maybe expected he will get better and better and there is a chance he wont make that next step to epic greatness.

Then again people were saying similar things about Sagan in 2014 and look at him now. Smile
I'll be back

I also thought and had a feeling that this was Quintana's year before Le Tour even though I dislike him(Quintana) and had a feeling this would be Contador's year before the start of the season.
I also had a feeling that Froome would win the Tour last year btw.

Quintana and Contador is just overhyped of their fans.
Froome wins tour next many years and takes record for most victories.

Even if someone was on par with Froome ( not the case ) he would win the tour, Sky is simply a much stronger team.

I'd argue that Porte is almost as strong as Froome this tour, Porte hasn't been dropped by Froome yet iirc and if it wasn't for Porte's puncture + crash on Ventoux, he might've had a chance this year.

Might be a little bit biased here. Pfft

Froome is 3.15 stronger than Porte so far

While Froome hasn't been able to drop him on the climbs yet, he also lost about 2:30 in the time trials. So I don't think he would have had a chance, even though he is clearly the 2nd strongest gc rider in this race.

I don't think he would've lost a full 2 minutes in the first TT if he hadn't crashed on Ventoux, maybe a minute, which would've put him at 1:30 down and still capable of having a go at the win.

While I agree with you, that without the fall he would have probably lost less, I still don't think he would have won. Pfft
Part of that is that he himself hasn't been able to drop Froome and his rather defensive riding style (meaning attacking pretty late in the climbs).

But anyway it is what it is and I think he's got a very good chance for 2nd place, which he certainly would have happily taken before the race. Wink

As said, I'm kinda being biased here. Pfft

And you're right, no point speculating about what could've happened.

I'm willing to bet Froome has 1 more Tour win in him, this is his absolute peak now at 31 and turns 32 next May, I think he won't hit this level again and over the next couple of seasons others will come through and challenge him and Sky

Is heard before. 31 is just a number. Nevertheless Valverde best season as 35 and Horner +40. Froome has only been a part of the world elite since 2011, so that his body is in no way worn down.

Tony Martin is 31 and cracked, Peter Velits is 31 too and also cracked, both with legs. All three started at the same time (moreless). I wish him (them) all the best and strong health, but we really can't predict where he will be in 2 seasons, can we?
I'm looking for professional slovak team. Haven't you seen any? Pfft
