I get it was terrible by everyone but 23 seconds is not Le Tour if Quintana and co. get their A into G.

Good stage and very good for the race Froome got a little cushion. Quintana wants to gain that back tomorrow! |

Credit to you then, seeing as you can hear his breathing through TV which has a camera angle a not right up in his face.

BMC could have closed the gap, if they had worked 3 km earlier than they did.
Oh well, Froome hasn't won any major time anyway. Let's see if he pays a price for his maximum effort trough that ending of the stage, tommrrow |

This stage win was deserved. He wanted it and he got it. Chapeau.
On the other hand, all favourites are still close together. We will see some great racing.

Not sure what all the posts like this are thinking, Quintana was grabbing a bidon as Freome went, making him missed the attack. Froome was faster down the descent especially as he was willing to take a lot of risks down it for a gap of 13 seconds, Quintana didn't do anything wrong and most likely a time gap like that won't be of importance to him.

Can't believe the staggering amount of people that thought that this attack was a good tactical move. Yeah, of course it's a eye candy for me as a viewer, but that dig that he had to make seems unreasonable, especially from usually tactically near perfect Sky. |

Not a Froome fan for sure, but that was great cycling, hats off.
No effect on GC, but you have to respect those that dare create the race.
But that said, no blame on Nario or the others in the group, very little lost, and they have a long day tomorrow.

Yeah, I totally agree. It was obvious Quintana didn't expect that reckless descent by Froome and thew it immediately, but didn't have the wattages to keep up on the first 200 metres and gone.
Anyways, its not of so much matter tho. I chose to believe that Froome knows he will have a hard time distancing him uphill. |

Sky are usually one of the least tactically astute teams in the peloton, their success owes to their massed brute strength and their reliance on powermeters rather than their tactics, which are at best just about decent and at worst woeful.

One of the few weaknesses in the past for Froome has been the downhill ability for sure, now he shows that he has improved in that area. That should send a clear message, that it will be hard to beat him for sure. Not worth the 13 seconds, but perhaps worth making teams re-think their strategies.
