There's a reason i can't take this too seriously, and the fact i got 12 points from anyone and Zimbabwe also isn't last just proves it. And the coca-cola/world cup song could win. Brilliant! This is just a fantastic laugh/joke Pfft

Next time i'm going back to Kendrick for sure

Well, Helsinki it's come to the point we've all been waiting for, WE HAVE A WINNER! It is no longer possible for anyone to catch them, Somalia will be crowned DSC champions shortly, but first we must cal Ban Ki-Moon who will give us the results of the World Jury, a panel of music professionals who voted in last night's rehearsal. Good evening Geneva!

So, that is it! We have heard from all 24 delegations and spokespersons and we finally have a victor, it is SOMALIA! Here he is, K'NAAN, the winner of the 5th Daily Song Contest!

Yeeeeeeeeeeees! Oh my god!
K'NAAN, we have to ask you, what are you feeling right now?
To be honest Sara, everything is just spinning right now, this whole experience has been phenomenal, I am so glad I said yes to coming back!
Let's talk about that. Did you think this song was better than your previous entry? Did you think this was a winner?
When I first heard Wavin' Flag in the studio I just thought it was a great song, I wanted to get the DSC up on their seats waving their national flags, give them a sense of pride in themselves. But the 3 minutes I had on stage tonight were the best 3 minutes of my life. Helsinki: you're my number 1!
Now you're going to take the contest back with you to Somalia. Do you realise that this is the first non-European victory, and especially the first African victory?
Someone told me mid-way through the voting that if I won I'd be the first African to win, and I was just overwhelmed! So, I dedicate my victory to the continent of Africa, and to the people who persevere, it took me a 2nd attempt to be lifting this trophy.
Ok, so you're about to perform your WINNER'S song, any last words?
See you in Mogadishu!

So after 3 months of waiting, we finally made it here! Confetti falling down, leaderboard full, the trophy handed out, but finally we must hear our winning song again. Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome K'NAAN with Wavin' Flag!

Just outside the top 10 is a good result for the Isle of Man's debut.

I think the non Coca Cola/ World Cup version of Waving Flag is a much better version of the song and one with a better more powerful message and more in keeping with K'Naan's music but none the less I still think it's a deserved winner.

Rest of the world has more music taste than the participating countries. But 5th is still a great result for the host.
And Australia and the Kiwis are split third Grin

The Daily Song Contest is set to launch this weekend in Mogadishu, Somalia, and we have some special news for you all. In this next edition there will be a change to the contest's format. For the first time in DSC history the system will be changed to feature 2 semi-finals as well as the grand final.

Semi-Finals

The main change is the number of competitors in each show, instead of 1 big long show, the semis will consist of half of the competitors and will take place over the period of a week. The first show will be shown on a Sunday and the second on a Tuesday. The phone lines will open for the 3 days after the show has been shown, then the qualifiers will be announced in no particular order on the day after the phone lines close. Voting is done anonymously and anyone can vote and it will all account for the same. The amount of qualifiers is still to be decided as it will be based on the number of participants. For the competitors who don't make it to the final, their positions and points will be posted after the qualifiers are revealed.

Grand Final

The final will be shown on the Saturday of that week with the running order being formulated by the producers. The phone lines will be open for a 5 day period after the show, then voting will begin. The finalists and the world jury's votes will be done in the usual manner, but all the other countries' votes will be combined and they will be read out 1 by 1 by our hosts. We encourage countries to vote in this period and to ultimately support their favourite acts. The 1-8, 10 and 12 system will stay in place for this edition.

Timetable

Show Days
Semi Final Draw Thursday [Week 1]
Semi-Final 1 Sunday [Week 1]
Semi Final 2 Tuesday [Week 1]
Semi-Final 1 Qualifiers Wednesday [Week 1]
Semi-Final 2 Qualifiers Friday [Week 2]
Grand Final Saturday [Week 2]
Grand Final Results Thursday - Saturday [Week 3]

If you have any questions about the new system, feel free to ask.
We look forward to seeing you in Mogadishu at the weekend!
