But do the articles really say anything that would put the riders involved in danger of losing there job? It's all basically gossip with anything of substance already well known. I'm not going either way with the anonymity as it's no big deal with the articles being so light on with anything of substance

Also the point of inserting misinformation is something that bothers me. I get it, to protect the identity. But again, what are we supposed to believe, if he gives misinformation between the 'truth'. |

I;m not defending the article as a whole but what about this is rubbish?

Nibali is a true racer. I don't have a bad word to say about him, he was right to call RCS out. I had done the same if my biggest goals, T-A and especially Il Giro, depended on weather and how big pussies the RCS is from a scale of 1-10. Nibali had some leverage and used it, I would be scared to death for stages 19 and 20 if I was him.

The guy is subjective. Obviously.. It's his perspective. I don't get the point of critiquing his views on things because he doesn't provide any evidence, he is not trying to be judge he is not trying to get facts from both sides of the story. It's his view and his thoughts.
As for much of what he writes, I don't really get the fuss with this column. There's nothing of note he writes 99% of the time, just everyday stuff anyone can find if he reads cyclingnews or cyclingqoutes.

I share your very same opinion but I am pretty sure it's because it's words that come from someone that is as much as an insider as an experienced pro cyclist, that's all.

Clicking through the news, you hear the Extreme Weather Protocol is going be implemented at Tirreno. Great. The night before, also. This is put in place not only to keep us, the riders, safe, but to bond us together. It lets the riders, as a group, have a voice and stand together.
And then the former Tour de France champion decides “You know what, I’m better than this Extreme Weather Protocol, and we should be racing. I don’t care what the CPA has decided. Why should these rules apply to me?”
It’s apparent in the peloton Nibali rides around thinking everyone should bow down to him. And his demonstration of cheating at the Vuelta shows us he thinks the rules don’t apply to him. That’s my opinion, and I’m not the only one who sees it this way. This is rubbish generally.There was not even a snow and Nibali was saying it.And Secret Pro is bashing Nibz again. |

In this particular case, I don't think it'd be much issue. Unless the guy who wrote it is French or Nibali's team mate.

Dauphine prologue. Pure madness.
Personally looking forward to the last 2 stages. Its not a super good route, but I like those last 2 including the insane prologue, obviously.
Reminded me of that the Suisse is also revealed. And thats pure madness. The last 5 stages are crazy, ups and downs. I desperately hope for Quintana to try to race this race, but I think the more clever thing to do would be RdS or not anything at all. Either way, Im sure he probably knows a bit more than me.
The trend is the very reduced ITT's. I don't really know what to make of it. |

Dauphiné route in full:
Not a huge fan of the route, although it does have a proper mountain stage and some well-designed medium-mountain stages - particularly the last one, a good illustration of what I like to call the 'Giro 2015 formula' (and of course that prologue!); it's lacking a time-trial and another mountain stage (only the Méribel stage really justifies that label). Good to see the disappearance of the Tour 'clone' stage that looked to be becoming customary, but it's worth bearing in mind that, as in keeping with recent Dauphine, often ASO likes to introduce some ideas they have for the Tour in the Dauphiné before implementing them in the Tour in the next few years (Finhaut-Emosson and Le Bettex being prime examples from this year's route). My bet is that the Méribel ski-station will be happy enough to cash up for a stage finish in the Tour perhaps next year or the year after, which would be good, but I can't help thinking that, having 'discovered' the climb to Frasses, it would link perfectly with the climb to Courchevel, representing not only an improvement on the classic Madeleine-Courchevel combo, but also a welcome return for a big Alpine climb with some history!

Awesome, I stayed in Les Gets a few years ago on holiday. That climb is brutal, really is Will be fun to see it again and how they tackle it (I'm guessing... faster ) |

I don't think you should aim at making races such as Suisse and Criterium Dauphine balanced, but I agree on your thoughts, Stromeon.An ITT wouldn't have bad, especially since Dauphine likes to mirror the stages coming up in the Tour, so a decently hilly ITT woulda been super prep. The stage over Madeline could be brutal, it really could, and we will se lots of action on the last stage.
But generally, for those races, bring on some crazy mountains. The more mountains and fewer flat stages the better IMO. |

I just checked three Wikipedia Velo d'Or pages to see if the award was already given out by now. Froome has won it and I'm just asking myself what Valverde has to do more to get it one day.

Tommeke not winning in 2012 is disgraceful too.
Froome obviously didn't deserve it, but he would probably have been the 3rd or 4th on my list considering he won Dauphine + 2 stages and TdF + 1 stage against the most fierce competition you will find in the stage races. He also beat Contador in Andalucia in some epic battles, but I bet that really mattered in the end anyways.
Valverde should obviously have won the price, I can't see how anyone in their right mind can disagree with that, but I don't have a big problem with Froome winning it.. the problem become when a rider like Nibali 2014 wins it |
