You smoking crack? The guy gets enough plaudits and basically a free pass from fans for his blood being in a "doctors" fridge. He is in noway underrated
Him blood doping 10 years ago has hardly anything to do with him being underrated/overrated. I know your anti-doping stance, but lets not forget that we are talking about an era which had doping for breakfast. The reason I put in in the list is that I consistently see people who dismiss him as one of the truly great of our sport which is a shame
I only put the doping thing in because it annoys the hell out of me...
I just don't see how Valverde is underrated, he gets praise all the time so I just don't see it, maybe as you are a fan of him you think he deserves more but from my objective view he gets plenty

Well, he can be underrated in some eyes and in other discussion forums, but on Daily, he cant be, with you and Shonak present.

Valverde is fine both in game and real life; perhaps he would be much better irl if he did use his brain in the races he participates (his lack of tactics probs have shortened a lot his palmares) |

The amount of Landa hype since about stage 8 of the Giro last year on this forum and others has been pretty intense. Sure, he was underrated before his breakout performance last year, I only remember 1 or 2 posters here hyping him up majorly, but as soon as he started doing well in the Giro he seemed to be immediately anointed as the Vuelta winner-elect

Im not agree-ing/disagreeing with anyone here, but he's pretty much the most successful rider of the past generation apart from Contador and Cavendish, although if you go by time leading the UCI rankings, he is definitely the best.

In my opinion Demare is overrated. He is just not that good and gets hyped up. Bouhanni is better in my opinion. Funny how people make wrong claims. Demare has really become a very good sprinter and a good classics rider while Bouhanni is even behind Laporte in his own team.

It's always interesting to look at these threads after a few years since the last post. Bouhanni has pretty much peaked imo as a sprinter and will never reach the level of other natural sprinters like Cavendish at his peak. Demare though has gone from strength to strength and still has big victories within him.

I, myself, have to admit that Laporte might be slighlty underrated and Bouhanni has been overhyped since his first sprints amongst the pros and has failed to follow-up his success from 2014 or 2015. And Coquard might go the same way if he doesn’t find any better team or form soon. |

Bouhanni seems to have just had a string of problems, rather than a lack of talent. He's got the ability to be a top level sprinter. But he has too many personality issues to make use of it all.
He fell out with FDJ when competeing for team leadership with Demare.
He's fallen out with Cofidis for some reason.
He's got a competitive, aggressive, edge which has cause issues in the peloton and offthe bike.
Overall there's just a few issues and non-professional traits. That's what's held him back rather than a lack of talent.
Compare that to Demare, who dealt well with the FDJ leadership struggle. Who's been able to work with his team and trainers to redevelop his skills and grow himself as a strong man rather than pure sprinter. Overall a more pleasent personality and greater profesionalism.

Unfortunately I can't get sympathy for him until he doesn't explain what happened on Cipressa...
