Yes we get two races which is nice sometimes, but on huge stages like this one, the big guns needs to contest for the win.

Then you shouldn't be watching GT's and should stay right away from the Vuelta, this is just how these races are raced.
Also some pretty good "useless" riders in the break today

I think I'll decide that just fine by myself!!

It's legit enough to be dissapointed with the way the big favorites decides to race on the last big MO stage. Considering how close the GC is and the fact that there are bonus seconds on the finish line, it is simply dissapointing to see the peloton give the stage away like this.

Who are you thinking of? None of these would even have a proper chance of contesting for this stage under normal conditions, maybe only Rolland in top shape.

But IMO Rolland is very overrated, and Frank Schleck is no longer a quality rider, and the rest is considered the stage they are racing today, "useless"

Agreed, I'd like to see Katusha actually care about the stage win.

Why should they? The team has a stage win already and a chance to take the GC, Purito is best when attacking a few k's from the finish which he will do today if feeling good, why work hard today for a slim chance at a stage win wasting energy that will be needed after the TT when Purito will need his team to work and make the race hard.
Also half this field look exhausted so this was always going to be a day for the break to succeed

I dno, they dont need to spend more than a few helpers to hold them within reach and maybe get a little help from Movistar and Astana. Maybe Saxo as well. Either way, I simply dont like the favorites to care as little about a stagewin like this. Its just my personal opinion

Okay mate be disappointed but there still will be a battle for time between the GC guys today, I don't get how people constantly think that GC riders and teams can compete every single mountain stage for the win, these guys aren't robots and just can't produce every single day especially when it comes to the Vuelta, it's almost like people cant seperate PCM and reality.
Also you and I clearly have a different definition of useless because none of the guys in the break are useless, guess unless you are a star rider you are useless

I don't disagree with you as in I'd also like to see the favourites do battle for the stage win but I just think some of the teams are tired so putting riders on the front to keep a break within touching distance isn't something they are capable of doing.

If the breakaway succeeds, which is most likely. Who would you want to take this stage? I personally want Frank Schleck to win, but I have doubts.

If the break-away succeeds?!
I'll give schleck a pretty good chance of winning, Rolland didnt look too good yesterday and don't he'll go much better today. The others aren't that strong

I was fine with the two days before being raced among the breakaway guys, but both stage 11 and now today, the two by far biggest MO stages is given to the breakaway. (Landa isn't a typical breakaway rider, but the GC guys was still not contesting the win on stage 11)

So yeah, i'am pretty dissapointed that today is given away like that. It has nothing to do with me being unrealistic and no being able to distance PCM from real life.

And i think you conclude way to much from my use of the word "useless"
Most of these riders are great riders, but not in these kinda MO stages where the big GC battle takes place. But ofc. you twist my message to fit your agenda, can't say i'am suprised.

Wow it was good to hear what you meant by useless and seemed reasonable but what's with the end of the post? 1.What agenda? 2.You are not surprised I'm twisting your words? I'm not twisting your words I just didn't get what you meant by useless so I took it in the literal use of the word and do you think I have a history of twisting words on the forum?

Since I have doubts w/ Frank, yep Torres can nail this one. But the Peloton is pretty flying now, that worry's me.

Guarantee that if the stage was being fought by the GC favorites we'd see very little action before the final KM where there would then be complaints of neutralisation, wheel-sucking and only fighting for the bonus seconds and not time gains.

This way we get a real fight for the stage win AND a real GC fight that produces real time gaps that will define the race more than a sprint for bonus seconds.

And why does Katusha or Astana need to fight for the win? Both teams have stage wins already so why waste he energy that is going to be crucial in this final week. They've got the prestige and there is a much much bigger prize at stake in a very tight race. Frankly this stage couldn't be playing out in a better way

Nice attempt by Tinkoff this. But what will happen when they run out of men soon? Scared the pack will just stop again and ride slowly until the final climb

And I'm hoping for Fränk!
But Rolland is a hard Opponent, also in not-best Form, and the other are good too!

Can't see how someone from the break doesn't win this, 11:30 with 27 k's to go, I'd think a couple of guys will attack from the break on this climb
