Also, Romain Sicard is now in the top 10. I think after last year, he's getting better and better by the moment.
Would be cool if he could hang on. Though Quintana's right behind him.
Also Dumoulin is doing very well. Though I still expect him to crack on one stage and lose plenty of time. If he doesn't, it'd be awesome, though.
Pretty much only one stage to crack on which is the stage 16. If Landa and Aru goes from the bottom of Cobortoria, he is pretty doomed I reckon. Stage 14 and 15 are relatively easy, I dont think he will lose more than 1-1.20 min combined there. |

Yeah especially today the final climb is not steep at all (Vuelta official profiles are overrating the climb once again)
Sunday it's steep, but not so long (7km) so again not so bad for him.
Monday is another cookie, and that after a week of racing, it will be the biggest test. If he can survive that and is still within a shot.. everything is possible. The mt stages after the time trial are not that hard |

Stage 20 could be a danger for Tom since he doesnt have any team, but they arent steep, but its kind of a joker day in this Vuelta if its still close. Can be used |

I don't think it's stage profiles or lack of team support that is the big question on Dumoulin, it's all about recovery over 3 weeks and that is the unknown with him at the moment. The only known GC guys in form are Aru and Purito with pretty much the rest exhausted or stage hunting so it will be interesting to see how he holds up over 3 weeks. I still think anything inside the top 10 would be a big result

Typical Aru, one great day in the mountains and he thinks he's the best climber in the world. Not surprised to see him fade in the end.
Great victory from De Marchi though! Such an awesome rider to have in any team

I dislike Quintanas performance, also Tom was off today(starting to fade?)
Luckily Purito is still not done.

Nice to see Quintana looking better. Maybe he can get a stage win tomorrow or Monday.
People may not like Astana but at least they are making the race.
The last 2km's look like hell tomorrow hopefully it is an exciting finish.
Also is there any information on if they have modified the road on Ermita de Alba? Seems like they pretty much have to considering how it looked in the videos posted of the climb.

First stage I've been able to catch live after returning from holiday (seems like I have quite a bit of catching up to do). Pretty disappointing - de Marchi was the obvious favourite from that group and neither the break nor the pack seemed interested in doing anything until the last 3-4km. Nevertheless nice to see Nairo recovering after losing time earlier on - I assume he was ill on the Andorra stage? Or just recovering badly after the rest day like the Tour but much worse?

Fever. Yesterday he was dropped very early in the stage.

I'm not a Quintana supporter. He's one of my least favourite riders, so I was happy to see him getting dropped during the last days.

Overall a boring stage. But good to see, that the GC is far from over. |

There is footage around just after he crossed the finish in the Andorra stage and he couldn't even get of the bike unsupported and looked as bad as I have ever seen a rider after finishing a stage, apperentley had gastro/stomach problems and add that with Tour fatigue explains him going so poorly

I have never understood the pleasure of seeing a rider suffer just because you don't like them but that's you're choice, what is it that you don't like? (I'm not having a go at you in any way I'm just curious)
