I don't like to see Phinney being taken out of the top of the GC race by simply not attacking. Action was pretty interesting besides that, but it does put a downer on it. Maybe Phinney can bounce back as Gesink finally did today, at last shaking off his habit this season of attacking too late, if at all.
Still nothing from Vesuvio in the climbs, unfortunately. Swift survives and keeps his points lead - Phinney's failure helping there. Need to get through Stage 12 next for a realistic chance of getting that elusive 2nd stage win. Can't see the AI delivering anything other than a breakaway on Stage 10.

Some really strange results for me at the vuelta.
Phinney's complete and utter meltdown is the biggest surprise. He is one of those riders that always needs enticing to come to the party and this sort of result will not have helped matters.
Really pleased to see Destribios in break - he battled nicely but sadly this was a big GC shake up day so not quite the day to be in break.
Tenorio now has leaders jersey - will he get stuck like Phin or can he launch defense against Pou Pou.
Incredible win for Gesink and somewhat welcome.

Great ride from Tenorio and awesome to see him taking the red. Hopefully he doesn't have a bad day like Gesink and Phinney both have had. I actually don't really see Phinney coming back from this one, simply because his secondary stats are more lacking compared to Gesink. Who knows, Gesink might end up going huge in this Vuelta with the gap only being 1min50 atm.

I have some bad news for you, Kami. The gap is even smaller than that

Though I think Gesink will struggle again. He is now in a position, where he is not allowed to attack from long range. So he might miss the right time again. Could end as up and down Vuelta for him then. |

I was actually thinking about that. And by my calculations he should be on attack on the last mountain stage so it's all good

Great ride from Gesink there while Phinney was very surprising, he must have had horrible daily form. At this point I'm just glad to see Amador duking it out with the top guys.

Abal performing admirably. I'm really happy his showing our colors in every stage.
Interesting the situation in the race now. Phinney still has 80km of TT to regain some minutes but he has to step up in the mountains to don't loose more minutes.
Tenorio is the man to beat now, let's see if he can appease all the attacks because there are multiple high quality threats that could make him suffer. Still waiting for Pluchkin to really show himself.

Dont really get how Phinny can lose 9 minutes just because of daily form. Need to have something more in it than that. Either way shame it ruined the GC somewhat by that. Tenorio looking really sharp so far and can see Pluckhin struggling to catch him now that Tenorio even have the leaders jersey bonus aswell with the nat. bonus + small tt advantage.
And what a comeback from Gesink that was. Somewhat satisfying to see.

Strange stage. Good to see Tenorio following the attacks on a more hilly course.
Now to hope for a good TT tomorrow (perhaps even a win?).

What is this? Gesink attacking even on flat stages now?
Can't complain though. Hopefully this means he won't miss out on the attacks in the mountains and be able to win some time in the hilly stages that remain.
Looking forward for tomorrow's TT. Surely a combo of 81HI and 80TT should make him one of the favorites.
Also, it's nice to see people applauding Gesink's performance in stage 9

Abal on the attack, 70 hill?!
Seems like Cyanide added some feature where one/some of the best riders in a race just don't perform for no reason (Fitness = 70? or whatever they call it now) . Sadly for us Contador has it here - unless he is injured which hasn't been mentioned.
And they had such a good game with PCM2011. Oh well, there always be PCM2011. |

Cunego is really performing well above his stats this season. It must be nice!
No time differences is nice here, as I really thought Keinath would be taking back some time here.
The next stage will be interesting for so many reasons. I guess we can't get anything spectacular, but I still hope that Lecuisinier might be able to hold on to his 11th. He will lose it soon enough.

Alright let's see if Kritskiy can turn things around in the second ITT!

Weird stage, Cunego again doing great. It was a gamble doing the GT double with him but it seems to be paying off. Not sure I would have done the same.
Sucky stage for points Jersey hunting Swift.
Will be interesting to see how gap is between lead two after next stage.

Bizarre from Phinney, who was looking so good.
Bouygues are having a much better Vuelta than they did Giro, now that Roelandts has decided to start sprinting

Well that was a nice stage. A stage win in both GTs is definitely nice! I hope he can win one on a mountain stage next Weird that the flat stage produced these results though, or else maybe it should have been rated hilly!

Odd race so far, but a more realistic position for Scarponi down in 20th on the GC. Pity, as I was enjoying him being up near the top 10. Guess it's not as much as a shock as Phinney's AI fuck up.

A good try from Hoelgaard. It seems like we're happy joining the breakaways only on flat stages, and thus it's good to see him give it a proper go.
Interesting finish for sure, and cool to see Cunego grab the stage win. Hopefully the energy Guldhammer saved not taking part in the attacks means he has got a tiny bit more to use in the upcoming TT, obviously another key stage for his top 10 ambitions. |

This, the game that should be used forever, until Cyanide is able to put their shit togehter.
Cool 5th from Pluchkin in the "flat" stage. I found it pretty silly, that almost every single stage in a GT bar first week is challenged by GC guys, imagine that in real life.
Congrats Valv, but i cant be happy with Cunego and Phinney taking more points towards point jersey, as i hoped that can be also the chance from Pluchkin in that competition, if Swift should abandon along the way. But also breaks taking the mountain stages are problem in that regard.
Looking forward to hilly TT, i fear Gesink will get closer, but i am not afraid of him for the final GC. Tenorio on the other hand is biggest opponent and i hope Aleksandr will limit the losses during the TT. Daily form will be a decider i think...
