Happy to see Txurrka back in WT, one of my favourite riders! Didn't even realise how good of a season he's had.

Nope, its actually a frickin good signing considering Orica is quite slim in hilly and mountain terrain, both Yates will benefit from this. |

Amazing to see Txurukka back on WT level. Indeed he had quite some success this year, he really deserved that.

Not only the Yates but Chavez will really benefit from having a rider of Txurrka's ability in the team, always felt bad seeing Txurrka not getting a WT contact after he was dropped by Euskaltel for what amounted to them needing WT points and hard working Dom's don't collect those. Quality rider and another smart signing by Orica

I'm struggling to think of a WT team that would be a worse fit for Txurruka than Orica. Basque breakaway maniac meets the dull TTT/sprint team, quite a shift from Caja Rural and Euskaltel!

BMC and Simon Clarke is a rumour I keep hearing about and a few locals have told me its a done deal, it would be a big loss for Orica

They have been slowly changing that over the 2 seasons and singing Txuurka is further proof they are building a team to be more prominent in GT's.
Edit: In the last few seasons they have brought in Chavez, 2x Yates and also the 2 young Aussie's in Power and Haig. They have just not signed any established GC riders and decided to develop there own young GC talent. Txurrka will get plenty of opportunities to go out on the attack once the road tilts upwards in this squad

It's perfect. No leaders to stop him from going into the attack.

Meh they said they were doing that a while back and apart from Weening ploughing a lone furrow I haven't really noticed any change. I mean it would be nice if we started seeing them being active in the mountains instead of just giving up after the first week, it's just I don't really see them of all teams being a good fit for Txurruka. Maybe my opinion is clouded by the existence of Gerrans in this world though

Wow, that news probably made me jump around with joy more then it should have, Amets!
I still remember when he got in the breakaway three stage in a row in his first year at Caja Rural at 2013 Pais Vasco to secure the Mountains Jersey. Was always a good domestique for Euskaltel and he has really kicked on this year for Caja Rural in terms of results.
Signing Ivan Santaromita hasn't delivered for the team in quite the same way signing Pieter Weening did so they needed someone to replace the Italian if his contract isn't renewed. Although the rumours of Simon Clarke going to join BMC means they possibly need to bring in a new rider to replace him.

Good to see Orica getting more mountains talent, support for the Yates brothers and Chaves, but he can probably also go on the attack.
Clarke to BMC Even though BMC is also one of my favourite teams.

Santamorita is 100% on his way out, he twitted something like he made a mistake in going to GreenEdge and its time to restart his career

His original italian tweet is more understandable than this translation.

Haha! Yeah Google Translate does a great job I was also using it checking out the Volta a Portugal live ticker and it was a mess so I decided to just watch the stage without the commentary.

Oleg is Oleg, so take him as serious as you like. He probably has way more insight in the «transfer market» than many others, though you never know if he's just fooling around or not

Don't care about Cavendish, but Rolland is too much of a free spirit to become a puppy of this megalomaniac. Please don't.
Contador and Rolland together on crazy long range attack-adventure would be excellent and sheer fun though.

I just hope Rolland stays on the same team as Gautier.
Cavendish to Tinkoff? Riis has never owned a better sprinter than Haedo and didnt care - like, at all, so thats quite a shift in the Tinkoff-era I guess. I dont care really, Cav is declining and probably wont be worth his salary anyways, but meh. Who cares for sprinting anyways apart from the last few kilometres of 6 stages in the TdF a year. |
